LINUX IS MOST DEFINITLY NOT SHIT FOR GAMERS.... WINe is an AMAZING program for linux so you can run windows games.... also alot more software manufactures are making linux base games, quake4 was put out for linux, same with doom 3, you can find copies, just waiting for the other gamer companies to do the same... but really, WINe does it all flawlessly for me, running knoppix...

as stupid as it sounds it is possible to trash hard drives motherboards even disk drives via software but the code needed to 'upgrade' the drives firmware would unless targeting some exact system (like say a mac models innards) be huge

you'd need all the code used to talk with just about every controller under the sun to infect and fuck up many many systems and even then someone with technical skill can bring back most mobos (wouldn't say the same for drives since they solder the flash rom rather then toss it in a ziff socket)

as for spyware/ect

Kaspersky 5.0 for a/v is best (6.0 is ok and AOL bought the rights to use their core so it can be free branded by aol *shudder* anyway)

Spybot is kept up to date more than adaware and theyve since bloated that program anyway

file shredders and hd cleaners that make 30+ passes with garabge data are the only kinda shredder worth a damn so don't bother with piddly ass apps that claim to be swiss army knives of 'evidence elimination' cuz they're worthless gimmicks not logical cleaners

go check out the specs for any hard disk mobo ect

all the items dating from say 98 on will allow you to trash hardware from windows just by starting a firmware upgrade right before crashing the OS while older stuff requires you reboot upgrading from command prompt

if you wanted to get really creative it's not impossible to upgrade it with your own hacked firmware that would allow one to load shit undetected by the bios much less the OS
