Credit card, with no credit.

I turned 18 in November and now I am interested in obtaining a credit card. I have no credit at all. I am only interested in a credit card with very low or no fee's. Thanks to anyone who can help, I tried looking it up but I got no decent results, so I am hoping someone here can help with experience.

i got one when i turned 18. i just asked my bank to help me find one and they got me a good one, so other than asking your bank i don't have many more ideas.

however, don't expect to find a low apr if you have no credit. instead, figure out how much money you can get a month and set a good limit based on that. of course, most people for your first card will only let you have a certain limit, usually 200 or 500. just make sure you can pay it off every single time. not being able to pay 200 doesn't look good on your credit

also, if you're in college, don't sign up for any card whose application you find anywhere on campus. their sole purpose in business is to increase your asshole's size.

The way I did it was to get a "student" mastercard. They're easy, I didn't even have to prove I went to school (I didn't )

Ask about it at your bank though...they'll help.

Oh, and congratulations on making it until you were 18 without doing anything stupid (no offense, it just seems quite a few people have trouble with this)

Or something like this...

http://www.www-card.com

I'm not saying it's a good idea, nor recommending that particular site, just suggesting alternatives. I don't dig credit.

the way to do it is to just stick to 0% interest ones and switch to another 0% one when the previous one starts getting interest. this way you never pay more than you borrowed. just make sure you can afford to pay it back though and dont spend beyond your means.

Well I am really good with money and have never had a problem with saving. I am just interested in building credit and exploring my options in this world.

I went to my bank and asked them about it and they searched frantically through drawers and back rooms, and eventually came back with a pamphlette that was completely useless.

I would do what Blazin'Talon said and get a student credit card. Most times they will just ask for the schools name and adress- thats it.

I got mine when I started school just to pay for books and pay it off weekly. It only had a $500 though which may not be what your looking for- but no fees.

The good thing about using it on important purchases such as books is most of the time they will almost "insure" your items for a period of time (or atleast my card did).

Not a good idea to use a bank card for online purchasing. It is easier for someone to your bank card numbers than your credit card numbers. I am not talking about scams, hackers attack the site and steal numbers and for some reason Banks cards are less secure.

i got my first card from the bank, no problem. at the time I was working and getting direct deposited checks of around 400$ a week, so they approved me for 3000$. got fired a few weeks later, but the card was already mine

anyways, if you want to build up some decent credit, set up your credit card bill paying online. That way, you can start making all your purchases thru credit, then pay them off right away when you get home. itll build your credit reasonably fast, and youll never have to pay any interest because you never owe them any money longer than a few hours.

It is a little tough, but you can find one. You will get approved for a very low limit with a very high APR, but that's fine. I originally got a credit card for the same reason; just to build my credit.

It is odd that your bank couldn't help you; that is how I got my first card. Maybe try another bank?
