Am I at an advantage that I can remember the basic principles of my dreams 95% of the times I fall asleep?

I'm tellin' you, you guys gotta try this. There is nothing quite like venturing into the architecture of your subconscious mind, consciously.

I had one about 5 months ago and I was laying on my bed, with the edge of my head hanging off one of the sides, and I woke up to an EXTREME rush of cold air blowing onto my face and a loud stream of air rushing through my ears--signifying that I was flying over a city of some sort. It only lasted for like 30 seconds, and I woke up realizing that I was just hanging over the edge of my bed staring straight at the floor.

Weirdest shit ever, but it was really cool.

I share the OP's enthusiasm for lucid dreaming. I have been doing it for almost a year now, with a little over 25 lucid dreams, and I can safely say it is the best thing I have ever done, or will do (I would bet on that).

The possibilitys are endless, and when your good enough at it, you can have them at will.

The Matrix, anyone?

Anyways, if you want to learn more about lucid dreams, as the OP said you could wikipedia it, or go to one of these sites: lucidity.com dreamviews.com and ld4all.com .

Also, if you want to buy a book, get Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge, its only $7 on Amazon and is widely agreed to be the "bible" on lucid dreaming.

Ah! This man knows what's up. I, too, have that understanding that almost nothing can top a conscious adventure into the DEPTHS of your mind. And imagine, people take all kinds of drugs, but nothing quite beats the trip you can get simply by going to sleep. "The Matrix, anyone?"- that quote is perfect, haha.

Thanks for reccomending that book, I wanna get a copy! Pages are so much nicer than a monitor. Also, it gives me hope reading that you've trained yourself successfully to the point of about 25 lucid dreams. I can remember two in my childhood, and one since I've gained interest.

I can remember from one of my childhood dreams bending down in a forest and looking at the ground covered in leaves, then picking one up and examining it. It was about as vivid as real life (Children dream deeper, generally.). In another far, far stranger one, I can recall a Grizzly bear showing up at a residential neighborhood not an hour from where I live (Orange County). It ripped my brother's arm off and I then realized that I was dreaming, but I could not wake up. Even though I knew I was dreaming, I was still crying, terrified, being chased by the Grizzly bear. It was so realistic that not even the knowledge that it was not real was enough to comfort me.

I really appreciate the replies. Whoever sees the length of my OP (I assume this means "opening post") and turns back, without giving this idea the time of day, is really missing out. For those of you that read on and replied, I thank you, and am glad that I can share this knowledge. Because lucid dreaming just kicks ass.

Edit: And so, my wonderful thread continues fighting diligently for the front page, where it is available for the enlightement of anyone with eyes. Haha.

In some of my lucid dreams I get terrified. It sometimes really scares the shit out of me, knowing my deepest darkest fears can come out in visual and physical forms.

But really, I love that. One dream this stupid monster was chasing me, and after running for awhile I just stopped, and decided I wanted to have a good story when I woke up, so I approched the monster, and basically said "Do your best". He disappeared right away and I woke up feeling great.

Here is a great link with MANY essays on lucid dreaming, really good information here: http://www.spiritwatch.ca/tableof.htm

So Coquelicot, what things have you been succesful with in lucid dreams?

For example, in my first lucid dream, I could hover in the air with my legs crossed, and make light come from my hands if I concentrated enough. I also could control over another person at a time. I've also been able to run and jump at insane speeds, fly of course, telekinesis, and one I really like to brag about, teleporting with the spinning method. That shit is whack once you can do it.

I feel like I have the worst luck with dreams. I think daily pot smoknig has alot to do with it. I remember a dream, say every 3 months or so. Sometimes ill wake up with a theme, or object, or name still buzzing in my head from what I just dreamed, but even if I try I cant go any furthur than that.
Also, when I do dream, the dreams make absolutely no sense, and im sometimes wondering if theres a short circuit in my subconcious.

For example, the last dream I can remember, I had this summer. I was stitting, on the roof of a schoolbus, crosslegged. My mother was driving it, we were going down some local street. Then I see my friend Sam, ride by on my friend joe's longboard (the assimilation of these 2 friends in my dream still boggles me). He passes our bus and waves to me, I say hi. End of the dream.

If anyone has any interpertation of that, i'd love to hear it.

Also, it seems my difficulties remembering dreams started with the daily weed smokage.

Marijuana suppresses REM sleep. As does alcohol and many other drugs. This does not mean you can't have incredible lucid dreams going to bed baked.

Most of my dreams don't make any sense either. Its the nature of dreams. Once you research dreams more (specifically lucid dreams) you will begin to find your self having more in-depth dreams (speaking from personal experienece). You will begin to put 2 and 2 together, and hopefully get some dreams that DO mean something. Also, if you try, recalling dreams isn't that difficult to do. Just believe in your self.

As for interpertating the dream, I can't do that. I also don't really believe in it. Sometimes a snake is just a snake, and sometimes a snake is a penis. But hell, I don't want someone telling me i'm dreaming about penis's, or anything else for that matter. Only I can distinguish what my dreams mean, because I was there, feeling the feelings.

i started working in the mornings again about 2 months ago and i hate waking up and so i set my alarm for like 30 minutes before i really need to wake up. then i hear the alarm and turn it off. then i reset it for 30 minues later and then i guess that helps me come out of REM for a moment but stay very close to it so its easy to fall asleep again. but this time when i doze out again i will be more atuned to sounds and have a semi active mind. then it triggers a dream. and i think that even if most of mine arent lucid or anything its still cool to have a trippy dream every so often.

there is this thing called I-DOSER. i got it recently. i dont remember how i found it but it helps you go to sleep. you just put this music on some headphones and laydown and i guess you fall asleep to it. but it wont work for my computer for some reason. it also gives you a wake up dose too. like when you are ready to wake up then you just put that song on. bad thing you only get it once. just keep downloading it.

ojdp- thanks for the link! i'll read those later. and to answer your question, so far i've only been successful in having one lucid dream, and it only lasted about 2 minutes. i believe i already told about it in here, i forget. I can remember almost immediately after becoming lucid thinking to myself, I'm dreaming, I can do anything. What should I do?, but I figured I'd first take a look around at my environment, like it was the first time I'd seen dream world, and I ended up waking up before I had a chance to have any fun. Although, it may have been a false awakening. Either that, or I woke up, and quickly fell asleep into a dream that I had just woken up. Also, I've read somewhere that marijuana puts you into deeper REM sleep, giving you more vivid dreams. I dono, but it sure makes me sleep deep.

www.bwgen.com

anyone ever seen that site? Take a look around, and go check out the presets for lucid dreaming. I dono about that, but some of the comments say it works. Now, if only I had some decent headphones. If those brainwaves can really put you into a lucid dream farely easily, then we've got no need for acid!
