  5. If you liked it there is a companion novel to it. 'Ender's Shadow' it's the story from Bean's perspective with a few chapters on Bean's origins. I thought it was a great read.

  6. Garfield At Large

I just started the Lord of the Rings the other day. Never read it... I think I saw the first 30 minutes of the first movie, but that's it. So it's actually new to me, and I'm enjoying it so far. I want to watch the movies once I'm done reading them.

I just started reading more frequently recently. So I don't have a ton of books under my belt yet, but I've enjoyed everything I've read so far.

    -- Sherlock Holmes
They're not all very good, but I'm a sucker for this stuff. I have a kindle, so it's just super easy to quickly plow through one of the short stories, so I find myself reading them a lot.

-- The Hot Zone: A Terrifying True Story
-- The Demon in the Freezer: A True Story
I'm grouping these together because they're both by Richard Preston. They're sort of true "thrillers" about virus, I guess you could say. Might sound boring, but once you start reading about how fucked up people become once infected Ebola (The Hot Zone), it gets intense. :) I'd start with the Hot Zone, then check out his other books if you like it.

-- Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark
Carl Sagan was a great man, and this book really gave me a lot of thought-provoking material that I hadn't before considered/realized. He's great at writing very informatively without being the slightest bit boring.

    -- The Omnivore's Dilemma
Great book that gives you a look into the food industry, if you're into that.

Edit: I almost forgot about DMT: The Spirit Molecule. DO NOT WATCH THE DOCUMENTARY, I think it's horrible. But the book is great.

  8. 1984 by George Orwell

"Nineteen Eighty-Four is a dystopian novel by George Orwell published in 1949. The Oceanian province of Airstrip One (formerly known as Great Britain) is a world of perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance, and publicmind control, dictated by a political system euphemistically named English Socialism (Ingsoc) under the control of a privileged Inner Party elite that persecutes all individualism and independent thinking as thoughtcrimes. Their tyranny is headed by Big Brother, the quasi-divine Party leader who enjoys an intense cult of personality, but who may not even exist. Big Brother and the Party justify their rule in the name of a supposed greater good."

Somme Mud, by EPF Lynch is what I'm reading now. It's possibly the best book on the First World War, for mixing present tense with first-person narrative. Be aware, it's not an easy read though, but if you can get through it, it's really quite trippy.

Edit: Misspell a word. We can't have that, darlings. :(
