If you think Dead Rising looks good (it is), take a look at Gears of War. That game is amazing. Graphics are pure sex, damn near what that cut scene looked like. Plus, who doesn't like a gun with a chainsaw bayonet? I was playing it last night, blazin' a bit, it was intense. If you get a 360, definitely get Gears of War too.

I grew up with the romero classics.

And everybody who has seen that knows that if you're caught in a mob of zombies -- you'll literally be ripped limb from limb.

I'm meaning to say games like this totally abandon the invaluable concept of being overwhelmed, overpowered, and outnumbered. It takes away the horror and replaces it with a hollywood caliber action-movie twist.

Fucking lame if you ask me.

Lol, Gears of War. Probably the most overrated game ever. Right next to the Halo series. Mindless shooting and gore doesn't make a video game good. Dead rising is fun for about 5 minutes. They really fucked up having to rescue people in order to actually find out what the hell is going on. Also that Otis guy calling you ever 2 minutes AND NOT BEING ABLE TO USE A WEAPON WHILE TALKING TO HIM really killed the fun factor for me. As for Gears of War and it's "Amazing" graphics. All it has is bloom effect and HDR, which PC's have been using in games for the past year and a half.

While I agree Halo is incredibly overrated (it's only good for multiplayer, and even then just because everyone plays it, not because it's that special), I have to ask if you've even played Gears of War (in HD)? It just seems like you hate it because it's popular or something. The game is very solid and a lot of fun, plus the graphics are sweet, even if some PC games may have it beat. It's not just mindless shooting and gore either, if you try to charge into a fight you will definitely die. You have to use cover, flank, etc. if you want to live. It keeps you on your toes and keeps it interesting. I haven't played multiplayer yet as the internet at my house for college sucks (stupid roommate...), but I don't think I'll be let down.

P.S. I agree for the most part about Dead Rising, except for the 5 minutes part. It's definitely either a love it or hate it game. It could have been a lot better, but it's still some good fun, even if it's just to pick up and kill some zombies when you're bored even after you've beaten it. Also, Otis is a terrible human being and deserves to die in the worst possible way. If they got rid of him and made the zombies faster and more vicious, like Dawn of the Dead, and maybe give you something more to do instead of just rescuing people (it did get annoying) that would be a sweet game. Or add coop or something. Eh, I'm done ranting, time to get back to studying.

I personally think Dead Rising is one of the most ingenious games ever invented.

The intensity of being trapped in a mall and have to survive for 72 hours is one of the most intense experiences ever.


Playing it blazed makes it 35355623 times better.

Yea, I love romero movies...and the whole horror scene. I've been to horror conventions and what not and I'm a huge fan of that kinda stuff. Now as far as the whole zombie killing thing it's fun. But to me what's more fun is actually maybe knowing that there's people out there that are going to kill you and you need to survive ( survival games :P ) they get me more tense than these kinda games, none the less playing games while blazed rocks!
