Reciever, Speakers, TV, Xbox 360..HELP!

Hey guys. Speaker/TV tech question here.

I've got a Stereo reciever, (2) 3ft speakers and a nice 27" SONY Flatscreen w/ an XBOX 360. I need to connect all of them.

How would i go about doing this? I need suggestions on speaker wire. Don't want to spend much

I want the XBOX to play out of the speakers when i use it, not the TV.

Is it possible to watch TV using the reciever/speaker combonation or am i restricted to the TV speakers?

it depends if your tv has an audio jack on the back it should be white and red

I don't even have the TV hear and i can say with confidence that it does yes. Its quite new, recent 4 years.

It's a flat screen it damn well better have audio jacks, lol, it wasn't made in 1952.

The real question is does your STEREO have RCA in jacks(If it's a good one it should)? If so what you do is connect your RCA from your XBox to your TV's RCA in jacks, then run RCA cables from the RCA out on your TV to the RCA in on your Stereo. If the speakers arent connected, use speaker wire (any will do, head to radio shack) and run it from the Right and Left outputs to the respective speaker.

then it is really simple there should be the the same red and white jacks on the back of the reciver connect the audio cable to both and anything you hook to the tv will come thru the speakers and yes when you just6 watch regular tv it will also come thru the speakers

Well the reciever is SLIGHTLY old, but in great working condition.

It has a bunch of red and white connections that follows:

PHONO
CD
VCR 1
VCR 2
TAPE
DCC

The name of the one you pick doesn't matter at all. All it is is the input select. You just connect it to one and set the receiver to that input. It's so you can plug in multiple devices and rotate thru them.

we have ours hooked into cd but vcr 1 or 2 will work to

Nah man, connect the Xbox to the TV, so the sound plays thru both the TV speakers and the Reciever speakers, and so that you only have to change the input on the TV, not both the TV and the Reciever.

I've got some skinny wire i used to wire my aftermarket PC button i did, would this work for speaker wire?

And for speaker wire, you CAN use standard electrical wire, but it will sound ALOt better if you use at least 18-Gauge speaker wire, you can get 100 feet of it for less than 10 bucks at radio shack. It should look like:

Another quick question. I need a AC power cord for my reciever cause mine is missing for some reason. Think i could use one from like a PS2 or get one at Gamestop or EB games? Cause i don't think there is anywhere else around here i could obtain one..
