Controlling Your Dream State?

I've always been pretty skeptical about the possiblities of lucid dreaming, dream analysis, and the implications of dreams. That being said, what about it? What does lucid dreaming mean?

I think I have what u might call lucid dreams...

weird dreams. lots of weird dreams lately. very detailed. Very memorable. Unable to do certain things...noticing certain things out of place, not right, abnormal...Noticed my hand was black, and I had long fingernails. I kept trying to see myself, but couldn't really do it, not entirely, like it was very vague...noticing clocks. Noticing the breaks from one sequence to the next...focusing on ppls faces. The dreams seem to start out pretty normal, like real life ish, then I think to myself in the dream that I can do anything I want, and then they turn crazzy. Then I'll wake up at climactic point in the dream and I'll be sweating. Is this indicative of lucid dreaming, and if so, what's the point?

are they legitimate? and what does it all mean? basically, what can u take away from your dreams...

Im kinda the opposite, I think dreams are directly connected to real life issues.

That being said, I had a weirdass dream last night. I was at a party, and I had a bowl of chocolate ice cream, a glass of orange juice, and a joint- and I was carrying them all at the same time in just my two hands, which was weird because looking back that seems inpossible. Then I remember spilling my OJ into the ice cream, and my joint falling in as well. Then i woke up.

They say if you can't remember your dreams, then whatever issue they depicted from your life has been resolved. Something to think on, perhaps.

Edit: Sorry, that doesnt really answer your question >.<

Ehh, this happens to most people sometimes. All i can think of is to look for similarities between your dreams and the real world issues you're facing. If you cant find any connections, look online for dream analysis stuff.

eh, not really.
lucid dreaming is technically a dream in which you are AWARE of the dream state, that you are in fact sleeping in your bed, not wherever you seem to be (in the dream). The "able to do anything" part is closer, because upon realizing that you are only in a dream, most people will also do things they normally wouldnt/couldnt do, they will try to fly, and succeed.
i spent a bit of time trying to achieve more lucid dreams, but not to much sucess. Im sure its possible to increase the chances of lucidity in a dream, but requires a lot of work.
lucid dreams are touted as being theraputic and an excellent way to deal with anxiety/phobia because the offending situations can be dealt with and overcome in an entirely imaginary setting. Its easy to overcome a fear of snakes by holding them. but its easier to hold them when you know the snakes arent real, and you arent really holding anything.

http://www.lucidity.com/LucidDreamingFAQ2.html lots of good info, and some info on how to increase your rate of lucid dreaming.

p.s. they can also be quite fun. Imagine getting to spend a while in a dream doing anything you want! (imagine finding an endless field of KB for free?) its a pretty fascinating topic.

Lucid dreaming is proven. It is legit. The dreams you are having do not sound like lucid dreams. Lucid dreams, like said above, are dreams in which you know you are dreaming. There are diffrent levels of lucidity though. Common signs of low-level lucidity is being scared, taking someone into a private area to have sex with them, etc.

I consider lucid dreaming to be the best thing ever. The best times of my life have been in a lucid dream.

Sounds fun, I think I've come close to this a few times but never took it too seriously and therefore didn't pursue them too much.

Ive had lucid dreams a few times before, not really intentionally, but its so awesome, you can do anything! Its really hard to stay asleep sometimes after you realise your dreaming though, you have to force yourself back to sleep.

Oh it is indeed all real...

I've just never had a lot of luck with it. I can acheive almost the same effect with getting high and then meditating, or even without getting high, but it helps a lot. Frequently if I succeed in that respect, though, I'll have a damn good dream state that night since I often go to sleep as soon as I get done with the meditation.
