You should get a "slr like" camera, it still has some more advanced functinos but not as much hassle as slr's

Last edited by jagfan; 09-24-2006 at 03:58 AM. Reason: spelt hassle wrong

SLR= Single Lense Reflex.. Meaning you see in the viewfinder what is being seen through the lense.. Much easier for focusing and taking a picture. A point and shoot camera will take good shots without alot of the advantages SLRs have.. plus, point and shoots are much less expensive. I have a 5 MP Canon Powershot A95.. I can take shots like this:

You just have to know basic camera controls: Aperture, Shutter speed, ISO, WHite balace, etc.. Its not hard to figure out.. Its easy for me because my memory is photographic.. But you might need to write things down for the first couple of weeks.. I dont know how fast you learn.. If you want, when you get a camera.. Give me the model number, PM me the link to this post and I will write up a quick summary on how to use that camera to it's fullest. Peace.

Surely, the greater the number of pixels in a given area, the great quality the picture is? I mean you probably wont notice much difference beetween a 4mp camera and a 7mp camera if you are viewing on a computer screen, unless you want some uber close ups.

And eBay is very good for digital cameras, just be a bit careful of who and where you are buying from.

Stick with Canon, its a good brand. If youre looking for a point and shoot and dont want to spend alot of money on a Digital SLR, then go for any of the Canon Powershot line that is above 5 megapixels. I use a 5 and it doesnt quite do it for me, but I have high standards.

IF you have relatively a grand to blow and you are very serious about photography and KNOW youre going to keep doing it for a long time.. Invest in a DSLR. I reccomend the Canon Rebel XT with the kit lense it comes with. When youre familiar with that, then you would have to get at me and I can reccomend some much better glass to fir with that camera. (A Sigma lense, or similar quality)

Hope to help. Hit me up.
