Exactly! For some reason the MJ community is scared shitless of the US Gov't. (Not that I blame them...)
Earlier someone brought up the great idea for MJ rally dress codes. Basically, to impress the lawmakers, we need to look like the Young Republicans. Basically remember your old debate days back in High School if you had the pleasure. The shaggy look, while cool in private homes and such don't really impress. We have to dress to impress, to use the old addage. It's a new age out there, and we need to match that new age!
Something needs to be done. We need to be able to match or beat the decriminalization that most of Europe, Canada, or East Asia enjoys. These are civilized countries that say pot isn't more of an offense than a speeding ticket and they haven't rioted and gone crazy (France aside, but that's a different story)...
There is no damn reason for the US government to throw people in jail for simple possesion with sentances that are equal to or far exceed MURDER FUCKING ONE! Here in Texas I've seen people get sentenced to LIFE for possession... (Granted they had a shitload of weed...) The sentence doesn't match the crime (or lack of a...) It doesn't even come close. The only damn reason that my family left San Francisco for Dallas fucking Texas is because of the three strikes law that Cali has towards MJ possession (or something to that extent, I'll have to speak to my parents to clarify that).
Something needs to be done. Someone needs to step up. When that person that stood up gets arrested or worse, we need to stick together! The first post brought up the Civil Rights movement as a parallel, well we need to gain some inspiration from that and refuse to back down no matter what happens. And if you're serious about the movement, you damn well better refuse to back down.
