harvest help

i think we need to have a thread page for harvesting under the grow section. Anyways, i need some harvest help...

i've had this one plant growing since mid-july (outdoor). before too long frost is comming so i'm about ready to harvest.

i've been told to harvest when tricomes turn to about a 50/50 mix of brown and cloudy. is this true? right now they are about 20-30/70 'ish (brown to cloudy respectively).

my biggest buds only grew about the size of the tip of your finger (there are probably 15 bud sights).

so i plant to hang it upside down for one week to dry (or however long it takes for the stem to snap when bent).

what do i do next?

also, my uncle (hortaculturalist) told me that i could smoke the leaves as well. he said to just dry them out and smoke them like the buds. is this true?

please help me as i am a dumbass who does not have much growing experience.

yes, i've already done a search and can't find the info i'm looking for, so please refrain from unconstructive posts suggesting i conduct a search.

ok first, the 50/50 thing...correct...second why do you think your plant is done if it doesn't have but little buds... it could be a sativa dominant and take longer to fill out, as late as mid novemeber-till december according to strain... most indica dominant bud till about mid october. Where your fan leaves big and fat or thing and long? big and fat is indica and thin and long sativa.

By you saying that your biggest bud is only tip of finger big i say wait..they will fill out, try to get pics that will help you out alot.

don't smoke the leaves....cut off all the leaves...hang up side down till dry then cut off buds and let cure out in masin jars. hope this helps
