i have a question that is out of pure curiousity
what is better a CF (compact floro) or just transplanting outside?

well nothing is better than natural sunlight....but you have to wait for autumn for flowering.....

with lights you can control lighting conditions and have several harvests a year....

so the answer is...it depends on your growing strategy....

I will second what Phez said, nothing gets a plant bigger and bushier than finding a hidden place and letting the sun do its work, but you only get the one harvest a year although I have read if you start inside and plant outside early, the sun acts in may like it does in sept so you can get a crop done in late June. You have to look that up tho, I just remember seeing it in passing. Inside the plants are alot smaller but you have total control (no cloudy days or thunderstorms, etc) and can grow whenever you want. Good Luck.

HIGH All, of coarse the sun would be better..but starting them under Fluros is what should be done. Gives them that little head start.
