Growing in corn field?

Hey fellow growers

I was wondering if anyone has ever grown in a corn field
I'm looking for a new place to put one of my gardens for next year
(seeing as last year i got 3 plants stolen right be for harvest)

I figured A corn field would be a good spot... My question is when should I plant them?

My plan is to start them in a place were they can get lots of good light and then once they have good stems move them to the corn field.

How high should I let the corn get before I plant them .... I obviously don't want my plants to grow faster than the corn... any suggestions?

Re: Growing in corn field?

I would say plant them next to a corn field because the farmers might go through their corn and rip them down but they wont bother if its not growing in their corn.

I agree with mwtokin, they do got through their fields periodically. Plantt it away from the street, or behind a tree if it's near the street

How can you expect them not to find them?

It's their JOB to just, tend to the plants, all day long. They all need lovin, they'll be walking every inch of that corn field.

Re: Growing in corn field?

Here the police air surveillance checks all the fields with planes, and helicopters. They are very good at spotting plants. People who grow sucessfully either grow indoors or in deep woods. Do you know if they have a program such as this where you are?
They fly over my farm every year, pretty much all summer.

Re: Growing in corn field?

Coming from the son of a farmer don't do it for one thing corn grows f***in fast and it will kill your direct sunlight. and if some how it does grow there is a good chance they will find it and If they are nice they will just pull em up but more likley they will try and wait and find out who is growing it and then ....... well again coming from the son of a farmer the last thing they want is sombody fucking around near their crops.

Re: Growing in corn field?

Your right. The farmers will never find it. But neither will you. Ever crawled through a dry corn field in the middle of the night? Been there done that.

Plant two or three plants under a fence with a gps reading and move along. But dont do it near a road. Dont ask..

I never dug 3' dia holes. Just a post hole width and deep. And then leave them alone. No water. You will get between 1/3 and 1/2 of what you put out.
