plants too big?

my plants are like 6 - 8 ft. tall bushes, (last time i checked about 2-3 weeks ago). my friend tells me that this is too tall and that they will take too long to bud. i'm in NE so the fear is that the frosts will come before done budding. is this true?

Re: plants too big?

I remember you from springtime planning a swamp grow on flotillas? Absolutely false info from your friend. I have never had a plant take too long to flower because it was too big. Maybe because I do not know the definition of too big.

Based on your post history those babies are stretching more than anything else for more light. They still falling over?

Re: plants too big?

here are some pics....the tall one in the middle straightened out fine.

i tried to sex them about 2-3 weeks ago when i took these pics and was not completely sure. nothing i could see said that they were male, but i wasn't completely sure they were female either. it looked like the little pistils were growing out from the stalks but i don't know.

Re: plants too big?

Nicely done, is that 3rd one sitting in standing water? I hope you trust your friend. Finishing time is decided in the genes already, so all you can do is cross your fingers. First frost where I live is second week in Oct which has always been plenty of time for me. Are these bagseed or from a reputable seed co?

Re: plants too big?

If your friend told you that hedoesnt know what he or shes talking about!! Actually ive noticed the bigger they are the quicker they flower, but this is not aleays tru either. depends on strain. At that size and maturity i would bet your plants are showing signs of sex, i would put money on it, you just dont know what your lookin for. try to take some close up pics of there nodes and someone should let you know. look up how to determine sex.
