I would try neem oil first. Pretty cheap at hydro stores and works well if you know what your doing with it. Personally insecticide is a measure i am purposefully trying to get away from when i grow. It may say safe for vegetables, but it is still poison.

And spider mites leave small white eggs. They themselves are very small and reddish brown. They don't fly so anything flying is a different beasty, maybe fungus gnats or something else. You can normally find them on the underside of leaves, that's where they like to feed. You will see white dots, and little reddish brown buggers crawling around.

If the idea of smoking something which has had deadly poisons sprayed on it sounds dumb, go organic. I use Safer Products, 100% organic. SaferĀ® Brand Insect Killing Soap, Concentrate, Model 5118 |

Educate yourself before you make such statements! Plus have you EVER grown yourself? How do you KNOW what you are BUYING has been sprayed with? You don't! | |

last year i tried neem oil n water but it killed my plants. this year my plants were infested with spider mites as well but that was in march april.. this year i did nothin.. just take some leaves off that were badly infested.. n as the rain n the sun arrived my plants got more strong n the bugs started to disappear . n always encourage lady bugs to ur plants. they might pollinate ur buds but they will eat those spider mites good...
