What Are The Grow Seasons?

Just wondering when the optimal time to start growing would be.
Also I am going to be growing in 5 gallon tubs. How much water would I need and how often would I need to water. Growing on my balcony so getting the water there isn't a problem

The plant will start drooping when you need to water it. Depends on soil, holes in tubs, heat, exposure. Usually people grow indicas on balconies (more discrete). 1 plant per pot is general rule.

lets say if i started tomorrow (mid october)
would it turn out good
or if i waited til the spring time would it be better

No, you cannot start an outdoor grow in mid October. Wait until spring and start then.

or have the plant already growing (6 inches)

The plants in your vicinity have started going dormant @ this time of the year and so will your MJ plant. In other words it will stay very little and not grow well at all.
Wait 'till April/May depending on your latitude and daylight hours reaching @ least 13+ hours.

Cali outdoor growing starts as early as mid April. It depends on how cold it is in your area. They normally start budding in Aug./early Sept. and are ready anywhere from mid Sept. to late Oct. Budding depends alot on the strain. Also on the amount of darkness in your area. Watering depends on needs of the plant. When its a very dry heat, they need more water. Your plant will show wilting quickly if it's not getting enough water. This is no big deal so long as you see your plants often. You wouldn't want to be gone the weekend w/o enough water. Be careful though, the plant will also look wilted if you over water.

assuming the temps at your location are above 60-65 degrees F...and you're in the northern hemisphere, you could grow a small amount of smoke from seed. You'd be going straight into flower as soon as the plant is mature enough...about 2 months. You're looking at a light harvest in Feb. or March.

You would do better waiting until after Christmas (again assuming the temps are okay).
