Pots or Ground?

Ok, well this year I tryed my first grow. I grew them in 2.5 gallon pots. The plants grew to about 4 1/2 feet tall. 5 out of my 6 plants were males! I figured hey what the hell its my first grow and just didn't worry about it. My female on the other hand was big and healthy looking (well to me anyway :], i didn't know what was good or not.) Well I just harvested my female and I don't think I will have much dryed bud at all...Everyone else's plants I see on here look amazing. My buds didn't get big or overwhelming like others. Next year I plan on just planting them in the ground so they may grow as large as they can.

Note: Do you think I may have harvested too early? Mostly every morning I see frost on the ground and it is about 50 degrees fahrenheit.

So, my question is. Should I plant seeds in the ground after germination? (with some healthy potting soil to start with) or should I get bigger pots to grow with?

My location of the grow is out in the woods so moving the plants is not an option if they are in the ground or in heavier pots. (just too difficult)

So...Ground or Bigger Pots?

Re: Pots or Ground?

Certainly bigger pots grow bigger plants - and putting them in the ground is a limitless pot. But the soil in the woods may or may not be good, fertile stuff, and most ground growers excavate large pits which they fill with their growing compost. Before transplanting their females.

Keep in mind the larger the pot the heavier it will be. So if I was you and the existing ground you would be planting in suits your needs (not swampy etc.) I would always plant straight in the ground rather than pots. Just prepare the planting location the right way.
Find a secure location where you won't have to move them.

On Edit: To max out your plants you would have to use 25 Gallon pots.

Re: Pots or Ground?

cold dew is not frost, you chopped them way too early it sounds. plants are fine in the 50's as long as its not an extended amount of time, hell mine saw 40's last week.

Re: Pots or Ground?

Thanks for all the information all, I will look forward to trying next year. I will try growing in the ground.

And yeah, I guess I did chop too early, but oh well. First grow so I'm happy lol
