Trimming

Now I know why people hate trimming! Long & Boring I just thinned my large plant. I think I took @ 20 % of the Buds ( I purposely took buds that had very little amber mostly cloudy with some clear). It took at least one hour of chair time,at the end clippings where just flying everywhere! I'm glad I had some really sharp scissors. The whole time I kept thinking " this better be worth it". I got about 6 oz of moist bud so far.
This summer I found some seeds at a vacant house in the ghetto ( I have to be there for my job occasionally) I germ ed them July 5th, cause all my good seeds were gone. I figured what have I got to loose right? I'll be damned if this stuff isn't some GOOD lookin weed. The buds are really purple & the leafs are turning really purple. It has a lot more trics than the large female that I just started to harvest. I probably only get @ an ounce or two from her though.
Hope everyone is having a great harvest,be safe! Peace-

Re: Trimming

How many hours would you guess it takes to trim 40-60 ounces?

Re: Trimming

I think for harvest next fall, I am going to stay up for 24-36 hours straight and just trim, trim, trim...

It will suck, but once it is all said and done, it will be more than worth it...

Re: Trimming

I actually really enjoy trimming. Along with my own plants I also do it for some friends (for a price of course).

I cant be the only one who enjoys it.

I average 1# / 8 hours

But your production rate will vary with what it is your trimming. If you have mostly monster Sativa colas then you should be able to doulbe your output.

1 tip for trimming...Use a little olive oil to lubricate and clean your scissors while trimming. It works better then alcohol as the oil does not evaporate. Rubbing alcohol works but your scissors will be gummed up 2 minutes later....

Best thing about trimming ~ FINGER HASH

Re: Trimming

It sucks! I've been trimming every spare minute for the last two weeks. The buds that are ending up in my hash bucket are getting larger and larger, lol. I hate it! I'm almost done now though. The problem with trimming is that you have to do it at least twice: one thorough trim before hanging or screening, and another little touch-up before they go into jars. All I have left now is the final trim on my Wrecks. Theoretically trimming should only have to be done once, but the more tired you get the more you miss. This year I got stuck doing most of my trimming myself, so i've been missing a lot. My girl has been working doubles and hasn't been able to help much, and my only other trusted helper, my dad, has been on the west coast.

Trouble is it is more like trimming a thousand bonsai trees - the novelty soon wears off.

Re: Trimming

when the trees are down and gone i invite my crew (my girlfriend, brother and his wife) to help trim. Big harvests just cant be done with 1 person, even with a good trim machine.(ours doesnt work for some reason) We have been goin strong for a good couple of days . still have three and a half 10 plant gardens in the ground so we are still looking at a good many hours when those get yanked.

will post some post harvest pics sometime soon. that is if i can find my thread.

overgrow!

Re: Trimming

Hey GC here are some more recent pics. I crossed the purple one with a brother of the big Girl. The big one has flowers that smell like "lemon/citrus"??? The litlle purple one smells really the opposite. Anyway I trimmed @ 6 oz wet of the big girl last week. I suspect I'm going to see amber very soon. Peace my Brothers!
