Re: Organic Gardening - Who Does it?

I've been gardening "organically" for years. I learned it from my grandfather. He did it all with aged manure and his own compost (his "mulch pile" as he called it). Not one blade of grass in his entire back yard.

Beautiful place, a regular fixture of my childhood memories. Neither he nor I really go out of our way to do organic gardening, we just don't do much of anything except re-use the stuff that comes out - composting.

Recently I've been using commercially available fertilizers and seeing some really impressive results from it (the Advanced Nutrients line mentioned earlier) but I keep things as organic as possible.

Re: Organic Gardening - Who Does it?

I'm in college, and renting, so it's hard for me to have a secure garden out of way from wandering eyes (landlord, parents, friends I don't want knowing etc...). However, I'm renting a new house now, instead of an apartment. I've been planning on getting started with a new cannabis garden as well as an outdoor vegetable/ herb garden on the back porch for legitimate reasoning.
I plan to go all organic. My local grow shop carries Fox Farm products, organic soils and ferts, which I've heard nothing but great things about. I also plan to start a composting bin in the backyard.
Grass City has definitely given me much inspiration for this. Urban Garden Magazine has as well!

Re: Organic Gardening - Who Does it?

That's a good point. Anyone growing indoors should give some serious thought to running a legitimate outdoor garden. It's perfect cover for buying gardening products.

If you really want to be sneaky, re-use the bottles of what you use indoors with cheaper products in them outdoors. Or better yet, use the good stuff inside and out and grow one of those shed-sized pumpkins.
