Fucking bud rot!!

alright all, im positive i have bud mold. it is black and gross and starting to spread to other branches and i am chopping my girl tomorow so that i can dry it and make sure the mold doesnt spread any further. besides, spraying with a fungicide at this point is futile because the buds are pretty much at their full potential. they are soo juicy and smell soo sweet and stinky . but my question to everyone here at GC is, how the fuck do i prevent this from happening again? i think that bud rot is more prevalent in dense type of flowers such as heavily dominant indica strains like the bagseed i used this year and of course, those strains finish at the right time for me here in NE. in the future should i spray with hydrogen peroxide solution? if so wats the ratio? or should i try something else? please if there is one question i need answered its this one. ive searched on the feature but i dont come up with all the answers. i found the thread by Iamliquor and the best info i got was from oldschool. but when should i apply the fungicide? ideally i guess it would be long before the fungus shows up right? help me out people! i sure need it.

Re: Fucking bud rot!!

I would guess maybe one tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide per gallon of water... put it in a spray bottle and spray the buds... it doesn't need to be too concentrated... just enough to inhibit spore development...

I would start spraying the buds once bud formation starts to kick in... I would stop maybe a week or so before harvest... You could try spraying the buds with DI water right before you harvest to limit the chance that the peroxide would affect the taste.

That really sucks. This is starting to concern me for my grown next year.

When did it start?

Re: Fucking bud rot!!

well i didnt go out to the girl for a while and when i did i spotted some black shit on one of the lower branches. i just sort of shrugged it off threw some water on it and left. bad move. this is going to really be a problem for next years grow. Mazar x Afghan (came with my Northern Lights pack of 10 from marijuana-seeds.nl) and maroc x skunk special and well as some other bagseed. but its going to be a fairly bigger op. mostly indica varieties are going to need to be protected often. thanks for the response man. btw what is DI water?

Re: Fucking bud rot!!

DI water is deionized water or distilled water...

You are in the New England area? And it has been raining a lot? And your plant is in a "marshy" area?

This is from OldSchool:

A mixture of one tablespoon Baking Soda, 2.5 tablespoons vegetable oil, and 4-5 drops of liquid soap added to a gallon of water will act as a fine, natural, and inexpensive fungicide (be sure to agitate spray bottle regularly while applying to keep the ingredients from separating).

Re: Fucking bud rot!!

yup im in New England and all you said is true. yep i thought that oldschool post only applied to powdery mildew like the Original poster said but i guess a "natural fungicide" would deter but mold as well. i think ill use that one. probably start using it as soon as flowering starts.

Re: Fucking bud rot!!

I would apply it weekly and after bouts of rain... that should increase your chance of keeping mold off... I would heavily rinse the buds with DI water right before harvest and give them a good shaking to run the water and any excess fungicides off...

Make sure you examine your buds pretty regularly too... if for some reason you identify some rot, cover the bud with some plastic, tighten with a rubber band, and cut the branch off. This will help eliminate the chance that you drop spores on any of the other buds. In the event that you discover a small bit of rot, I would immediately apply the fungicide to all buds in the area and then watch them closely.

Also, if it rains for a few days straight, I would make an effort to get out to you site and apply the fungicide once while it is raining. This would help deter any spores from development.

That is what I would do...

But what do I know? I have only researched a lot. I have yet to grow...

Re: Fucking bud rot!!

Neem2 is a ready made soultion but this late in flowering you may not want to apply such a thing. Listen, just some detailed removal and constant managment from this point on is your best bet. Some things to remember:
1. Dont water before or during the nightfall, the temps are down and can't evap the water fast enough, thus raising the humidity level even more.
2 Keep any leaves that are near the soil OUT of the soil. Clip em if you must.
3. Remove any dea or dying material from the plant as this promotes the rot.
4. Pay the upmost attention to your biggest, densest buds they will rot first.

Man this sucks greenmeany! It sucks big time But is there ANY way that plant can be relocated inorder to finish up in a less humid environment? I hope this works out man, oh yeah...can you attatch some photos of your babies, I've yet to see em!

the temps arent very high. sometimes hitting 40's at night sometimes hitting high 60's during the day. like i said they are in a marshy area so the RH is going to be pretty high. i bet this was one reason for the mold.
