The biggest tip I can give you is read up in this forum about your subject - do you want pots or in the ground, either way you need to learn about soil mixes. Spend the winter reading and preparing, getting in seeds and supplies for an early start in the spring. Good luck.

Yo,

Possible organic soil mix:

pro-mix (or compost / good potting soil): 50%
vermiculite (holds water): 10% (more or less)
perlite (aerates the soil) 10% (" ")
peat moss (aerates and holds water, prevents "leaching" -loss of nutes-) 10%
worm castings (important to promote good bacteria inside soil that protect plant) 20%
1 or 2 TBS bat guano (high in P)
1 or 2 TBS kelp -sea weed- (high in K)
1 or 2 TBS blood meal (high in N)
1 or 2 TBS bone meal (High in P)
Some lime if Ph is too low (acidic)

Plant seeds at home in just compost (no ferts). Wait for them to be 1 foot. Or slugs will eat the sprouts. Put outside in 2'x2'x2' or 3'x3'x3' holes or in pots (put layer of gravel at bottom pot for drainage).

Organic Ferts: Once every 2 or 3 waterings. Less burn with this stuff though than with chemicals.

For veget growth (until end July in temp. regions): Nettle tea, compost tea, castings tea. Anything with high N.
For flowering time (--> end July/beg August): bat guano tea. High in P.
Add stakes to support weight buds and help against storms.

Once or twice add 1 tsp Epsom salts for magnesium and K.

3 last weeks "flush" (no ferts): 1 or 2 TBS molasses per gallon (to increase yield).

And that's it!!! You're good to go.

Sativas are large and finish late (nov.)
Indicas are shorter and finish earlier (end Sept)
You need to kill males or crop ruined. Males show in preflower period (June or something).

Etc.... Read in this forum or google what you're looking for (easier).
Most important is place you choose (rippers, cops, people)
Major problem will be to bring water (some have water closeby or plants can drink alone in best grow places). If you go on vacation and leave your plants during a heat wave, they will die without water. In September (in temp regions), some rain and sun less strong so you don't water that often.

Later dude.

Epsom salts is magnesium sulphate, MgSO4. Contains no K.

May I ask one thing, Corto Malteze, is that a tablespoon in how much compost? Pound, gallon, bucket or what? It is important to know. Thanks.

Now all we have to do is see if Takinhits actually comes back to read what Corto Malteze has obviously put a lot of effort into writing.
If he does, all well and good, but I have researched posts a week or more old, and have found that an awful lot of supposed newbies who ask massive questions like this - ´I want to grow MJ, tell me absolutely everything I need to know´ - never bother to return to read the replies.
I suppose if they can´t even be assed to do any basic research, that is to be expected. This is why I never rush to write volumes for anyone who only has a handful of posts to his name, but refer them to the Search facility. But I do like to help folks, and so have answers to various FAQs in my sig.
Corto Malteze, we will see if your voluminous answer has been in vain or not.
