Do I lid?

I'm starting my first grow outside and I have so far planted the seed in about 4 1/2in. of good soil in a good spot with sunlight. Should I put a transparent lid over the pot though to hold in moisture or should I just keep it outside till sprouting happens then lid or move to bigger pot?

yea hes right way way too late to grow unless your next to the equator. if not dont try to grow pot your just going to get yourself into trouble obviously because you dont know what your doing

No one asked...are you in the southern hemisphere? If so you're just now going into spring right? I would not put anything on the plants if they're outdoors (or indoors for that matter). I'd worry about too much heat build up.

4 1/2 inches is too deep. try like 1/4th

Like the guy above said. Thats way too deep, they nee on to be 1/4th inch deep. Just poke a little hole with you finger...

he sais in 4 1/2in. of soil.............not 4 1/2 inches deep
