Things that you can't really observe, like taste of the individual plant when burned, the THC content, the content of all the different cannabanoids actually, are called genotypes.

you could have 2 completely different strains of cannabis that express the purple phenotype, but the genotypes are different. This would mean the Cannabanoid content and high would be slightly different, even as the buds could appear similar.
