JC's first Outdoor grow and Journal

Well I kept saying to myself I'd make a Journal and so I have.

It's my first ever outdoor grow but so far I think my plant's are doing pretty well. Here's some Info for ya. (Oh and sorry about the quality, the camera was dropped and now the lens has practically no focus)

Using:
Westland Soil and Compost (25% Peat. 6.8Ph)
Westland Tomato Feed (Used for Boosting root growth and flower size)
Miracle-Gro 20-8-16 Plant food

Plants grown:
Purple #1 x3
SSH x2

Pics:

Plant 1 @ 2.5 Weeks:

Plant 2 @ 2.5 Weeks:

Plant 1 @ 4 Weeks:

Plant 2 @ 4 Weeks:

Plant 3 @ 2 Weeks

I'm used to indoor growing so I wouldn't know if they're growing at a standard outdoor rate so any pointers would be great and appreciated.

#1 is bent because I had him under LST for about 3 days but then decided against it because the stem was getting much thicker by the day. The sun has been pulling her up nicely though.

#2 I topped 2 days ago but the new branches have poked through and with a few leaves so not long until she can spring back up again in growth.

#3 I put under LST as she was the right height and age so she's going to be kept under that.

#4 & #5 have only just sprouted and I didn't bother taking any pictures of them.

The first 3 were all attacked by slugs which is the reason all them damn bite marks, fortunetly they havn't been touched since I put the copper rings around them so for now I'm happy.

More pictures will come soon but not for about another 2 weeks because of the camera, hoping to get my hands on a good'n in the coming weeks though!

Hope you enjoy.

Well Plant #1 & #2 have both been either eaten by animals or stolen. I have no idea how or why but it's the first time to ever happen to me so I was a bit shocked.

On the brightside #3 has been growing nicely and the sprouts are doing well so will have some pictures up later on. Got myself that new camera.

yea animals are a pain
just make sure no people know where the plants are
i moved a plant outside a few weeks ago and it was doing good inside 2 weeks old
i put it outside then we got rained on like 5 days straight
to keep bugs and animals from eating it get some chili power and put it in a sprayer bottle with water and spray after every rain or once a week
i thought the plant was dead after the rain it was brutal but i straighted the plant out
and put dry soil near the base[ to absorb the water]
i checked on it yester day 4 fans of leaves were left the animals chewed like 8-10 fans
it has grown in height i sprayed it again
make some soulution and spray them or theyll end up like mine
good luck!

Forgot to add this but the leaves look droopy because of some crazy weather we've been having over these few days. The wind we had yesterday nearly made Plant #3 topple right over.

Well, none the less, The plants look good.
Keep up the nice work.
You should try making something so when it rains they wont get pulverized.

Cheers WickedClown.

Got more Pictures, nothing to say really except slow growth but I'm not surprised considering the weather. Damn rain and wind.

I'm going to wait till it gets a little bit taller (About another 3") and then I'll top it for the first time.

Sprouts are going very slowly but I found the cause of the problem so hopefully within these next few weeks the little'ns should be growing nicely.

Week 5

Well mid way through week 5 now, Topped #3 the other day as I thought it was time to get a bit bushier. Some damage on some leaves (Probably slugs because last week the copper ring got blown out of the pot) and I suspect I might need to re-pot or stick her in the ground.

One question though if anybody can help, I'm used to indoor growing so have always kept smaller pots and smaller plants but now since this is outdoor I'm not sure when to ditch the pot it's in. Pictures below so you can estimate by size (Plant is around 2 feet high, little bit more maybe)

Thanks in Advance.

Bigger the pot bigger the buds, repot/put in ground as soon as you can. Remeber dig a nice big hole and fill it with good soil if you put in ground.

Cheers for the Info Chaotic, I don't know how much longer she can stay in the pot but I'm planning on digging her a hole either tomorrow or Wednesday.

She's branching quite nicely lately and her two new tops have come through fully so hopefully gain a bit more height this next few weeks.

I was having some weird Ph problems, it went up t0 7.0 then down to 6.0 but has now settled at 6.6. I think my Ph metre got damaged by the rain or something so am going to have to replace that.

The other 2 plants havn't been doing too good, so I think I'm just going to let them be and see what happens to them.

I've got to get less busy and find some time to research into some good Flowering nutes. Indoors I've always used some Bloom tea but I want to see if there's anything better. (Also need to buy a new microscope )

Coming up to Week 7

Not much has really happened. Noticed that #3 was getting root bound so I put her (Still no sign of sex yet actually...) into the ground. Gave her some food and watered as standard.

Last few days have been sunny and as hot as hell (25-27C) so she should grow nicely with unlimited root space. I've noticed she's not as big as some other outdoor plants as she could be, but then I live in the UK so that's a given factor why growth is slower.

She's growing some nice new colas with new leaf growth every couple of days and there's still some new side branching to come through.

I'll post up some pictures later on (At work this very moment) as I'd like to ask a few questions on yield. Completely new to outdoor (Experienced indoor) so would like a few opinions on what yield could potentially grow on her.

Cheers for looking.

Well here she is. Not much to take pictures of.

And can anyone help identify this? I thought it was a Ph problem but my Ph is at 6.6 so it can't really be that. They ged fed enough and watered every couple of days. Ideas/Opinions?

Cheers,

-JC

Try this first!!

Looks like a slight Magnesium deficiency. Get some Epsom Salt use at 1 tablespoon per gallon of water. I mix it in a blender to get a good solution. Get a small spray bottle that will actually make a fine mist. Fill your spray bottle and use the rest to water your plant. Don't spray the plant until right at dusk. Make sure you spray the underside of the leaves as well as the tops of them. Give the plant a two or three days before you adjust anything else. Don't give it any nutes while trying this either. That way you can cult out the problem. Hope this helps..

Well back to edit this. Just noticed that this was only on this one set of leaves. Might have got some ferts on it? Or got water on it during full sun? Not too sure now. But do the Epsom Salt anyway. It will not hurt you one bit. Plus you see a difference in a couple days..

Thanks for that 'Budman. I have some Epsom salts around from my previous grows so will use that. I wouldn't of thought of it as being burnt as I pour down near the base, but then spray isn't an impossible thing, so will try to be a little bit more careful from now on just incase.

She looks a little ravaged from the leaf picture, that was because of a slug attack, haha.

She's grown her full two new heads now (After topping). Juggling with the thought of topping her again soon, help her bush out a little bit more.

Any other opinions welcome of course.
