Sunshine Mix 4

I have a small amount of sunshine mix 4 that I was planning to use for my plants when I start them in Dixie cups. The problem is I only have enough for the cups so is it ok to use it for the cups then use the existing soil when I transplant them in the ground or will this put them into to much shock. Any Ideas??

If you are gonna use the existing soil to transplant in, I suggest you at least buy a bag of perlite and add a cup or two of it to each hole you dig. It will help with water drainage and keep the soil loose for root growth. You should still dig a hole put the dirt in a pile, add the perlite to the dirt, mix it up, put it back in the hole. Bag of perlite is $3 or $4 at Wally-world.

If you got cash to spend I suggest you buy a nice soil mix like pro-mix or even cheap potting soil to fill the holes with.

I dont know where you live of course, you might have great soil to begin with, but I would still at least add perlite to keep it loose.

Good soil will be black, loamy and you might see some earthworms in it when you dig in.

yeah the biggest thing that can contribute to great yields that cost cheap is good soil. look up a hydro shop in your area even if its far go if you can, otherwise order from online the most you'll spend to get really good soil that will have great nutrients for your plants without all the feeding will cost you under $30
