CannabisBlunt's First Outdoor Grow '08

hey guys
i thought id show you whatsup with my first outdoor grow. My 7 seedlings have gone through hell, but theyre alive and growing. Cheers.

this is my oldest and most mangled plant. any one know whats wrong?

my favorite

poor little guy got eaten by snails

the group as a whole (minus the two biggest outside of the cage)

I think them being indica they might not like the heat. What kind of soil are you using anyways?

i dont know if they actually are indica. right now its just seedling soil with mostly phagm peat moss and other water retention mix. im expecting them to take off when i transplant into my kelloggs outdoor potting soil.

I had 25 at the same stage lots of ak47 and white widdow and other various strains anyway I had them in poly cups like that in shoe boxes behind some mesh scattered plenty of slug pellets around the area but these seem only to have attracted the slugs although they die when they eat the pellets . never got one eaten while they were in shoe boxes well I transplanted them into small holes at my patch 4 days later I came back 19 survived 2 anihilated by heavy rain the stems snapped 4 eaten by slugs its an expensive business at £2 or $4 a seed. Im hoping the rest will fight it out to become large plants that grow soo fast they cannot be eaten Also started another 50 seeds just to make sure .

im back guys
i prepared the last 3 in their 7 gallon pots, and set up fences for deer. here are the pics...

this first one is a baby. im pretty sure she will do ok in a pot this big...her roots were all the way at the bottom of the 16 oz cups

heres another youngin in his pot

well guys, thats my progress. I guess you can say the hard part about my grow is over. All i need to do from here on out is watch them carefully and water. Any suggestions on frequency of watering? The soil above 3 inches down is dry after 3 days. Should I be watering at this pace even though they are young? Thanks guys

well good and bad news
ill start off with the bad.

one of my seedlings is extremely burnt from the chicken manure that i put into its pot. it seems like this seedling has no chance at surviving really. here is a pic of it.

the good news:
my 6 other plants are growing strong and healthy.

any comments/tips?

your area looks very similar to mine. same type of shrubbery and grass and all that. your not in the bay area are ya?

They look burned. Are you relying on rainfall or are you watering yourself? If you're watering yourself, keep water off the leaves see if this solves it. and also, search your plants for bugs and shit, they look eaten

i believe it was a temporary sun burn. I am watering myself, i think they were just starting to become underwatered. I went to check on them today and they were greener than ever. They were eaten by snails at my old site, i got a bug spray that solved the problem...no more bugs.

What kind of spray do you all suggest using to keep the slugs away? I have to check on my guys a couple times a day to make sure those damn things stay off.

Nice comeback looking much better. Do you worry about the high visibility of your buckets? They kind of stand out with the bright wiring around them.

as for now, they arent a problem
choppers will be doing their rounds in july/august, and i am waiting for one rain to loosen up the soil. i am going to dig giant holes and put the pots in there. once they are big enough, the fencing will be taken off and hopefully the deer will leave them alone.

so practically, by the time people are actually looking for them, they will be hidden better
