White Russian Flowering NOW?

I recently moved a bunch of 6-12" tall White Russian females outside for my annual outdoor grow. 6-12" tall is the key here. It is late May, the days are getting longer instead of shorter in terms of light, and they appear to be in the very early stages of flowering. They were vegged indoors with 24 hours of light. I am concerned because they are still very small and I REALLY don't want them to start flowering yet. I was hoping they would veg for a month or two before they started flowering like my last grow did. Is White Russian known for early flowering or something? I hope not because I was hoping to harvest a bunch of 4-6 foot tall plants in September instead of a bunch of 1-2 foot tall plants in July.

heyy, my plants are doing the same thing. I have 4 power plants and 4 durban poison plants that are like 2 ft tall and they are all flowering too. I don't know why this is when they are getting so much daylight and when the days are getting longer. Does anyone know why these plants could be doing this?

I'm in SW USA but my Super Silver Haze plants didn't do this last year. If anything, they almost took TOO LONG to flower last year. Now I seem to have the opposite problem. I know they aren't auto-flowering because they veg just fine under 24 hours of light per day. I'm going to be upset if I have a bunch of tiny flowered plants with tiny buds on them at the end of July. Last year, my SSH started flowering around mid July and they were nice and tall.

maybe going from 24 hours of light to the relatively average days we have right at the moment triggered it? changing light cycles can give some freaky results.

That is the only thing I can think of. They went from 24 hours to roughly 15-16 so maybe that is the issue. However, I've done that in my two previous outdoor grows with different strains and they have turned out beautifully, starting in early May at 1-2 feet and finishing in late September to early October at 4-5 feet tall. The smoke wasn't as powerful so that is why I switched to White Russian. I hope they gorw a hell of a lot more than they already have or my yields will be very poor. I never thought I would be upset by early harvesting but this will suck if they don't grow much more.

Has anyone else had this problem of flowering too early? Seriously, some of these plants are just a little larger than my fists. I'm tempted to yank them out of the ground and put them back indoors for a month or so until they are 2 feet tall. If I hadn't messed up and underwatered them they would already be that tall and there would be no problem with them flowering now. It seems as if it is one thing after another. No matter how I plan it, something comes out of the blue and screws my plans up. I never thought it would be flowering too early though. That is definitely a new one.

Would it be possible for the plants to sense the longer days and actually revert back to vegging? Surely someone here knows and has had experience with this kind of thing before.

Thanks, that makes me feel a lot better. I started feeding them with FF Grow Big veg fertilizer so maybe that will help them snap out of it.

No, not lucky at all man. Not when they are very small. If they were to continue flowering I might get 1/2 an ounce per plant which would really upset me. The point of putting them outdoors in May, I thought, was so that they could veg for a month or two, get to 2-3 feet tall, and THEN start flowering to ensure better yields.

My SSH and AK47 I grew last year did that. I veg'd them indoors for a month or so under 24 hours of light. I planted them outdoors in mid May and they veg'd for a good 2 1/2 months and grew from roughly 6" to 3 1/2 feet before they started flowering. I ended up with 5-6 foot tall plants loaded with buds. I was hoping for a similar result this time with the White Russian.

I hope that the guy who posted above you is right and that they will start vegging again until they get taller.

i'm hoping the same thing for my plants except i think that my plants are too far into flowering and can't snap back into veg mode. I just hope they flower for the next 12 weeks and get a lot bigger while flowering....

Depending on strain, plants may be less dependant on photoperiod for flowering outdoors. They may just go for it when they reach sexual maturity, after about 4 weeks of vegging. I have a Strawberry Caugh, Kauai, and Blue Cheese. All from clones, all plantged at the same time in mid April. My Kauai and the Blue Cheese are just about to end week 1 of flowering, while the Strawberry is bearly even pre-flowering yet. Indoor the 12/12 thing is everything because we are simulating nature and we want to fuck with it a little to achieve maximum output. Outdoors, it's a little different. Besides, aren't our days just now getting up to 14 1/2 hrs long or so?

Last year my freinds Jedi flowered early. Not only did he enjoy a nice mid summer harvest, he didnt kill the plant, did a selective harvest, let the plant re-veg in the August sun and had an EVEN BETTER second harvest in late Oct-early Nov.

Now THERE is an idea. Thanks, I didn't think of harvesting and letting it do it all over again. I'll just make sure there are enough fan leaves and what not to let the plants do it again if they don't revert back to veg mode. I've only got until mid October before first frost but if the plants do flower and don't stop flowering until they are ready, they SHOULD be ready to harvest by mid to late July. If that is the case, maybe they can flower again before mid October. Thanks for the idea, I'll look into it.
