Site looks fine for 10 plants or so. As for topping, I've never tried it but if you read up on it and know what your doing, its worth a shot with 1-2 plants. Compare the yield from the topped plants to your free growing ones and you'll get your answer come harvest time.

Topping is a skill that can be very worth it when performed correctly. Wait until your plant hits about 18 inches tall and pinch the very top node off of the plant. What this does is stop upward growth and concentrates the plants more on getting their energy into growing outward. This allows for many branches to grow upwards and become your "top cola" instead of having only one. It also gives your plants the bushy effect instead of a straggly christmas tree.

Looks like a main road right in front of the house, how popular is that area?

I dont know about that man. That does look like a road that gets a bit of traffic, enough to be paved at least. Besides that, someone may buy the property, some teenagers may want to sneak in to that abandoned house, the house might be demolished, theres a number of reasons why people would stop by. Also, that all looks like farmland, and whoevers cultivating those fields may spot them. IMO, you should find a much more secluded area to plant.
