Lollipopping or taking leaves off off budding plant

hey i know when the plant is budding and almost ready to harvest u rip out all the unnessecary leaves from the bottom to make it bouff harder. but my friend keeps ripping off the top leaves but no full removing them just take out the leaf part leaving the steam still hanging. is that good or what? i mean im sure it wont harm it too much but i still think its bad unless the leaf is about to fall off but just leaving the steam still on the plant idk. i think youre suppose to rip off the whole thing yah? and are u suppose to do it with sprouts that are just begining to bud?? i don think so.

Leave the leafs just ones that are dead and falling off, Your leaves gives your plants energy to grow without the top sets your lookin at a low yield or even killing the plant. And plant need 8 weeks to flower too, anything quicker is a rookie mistake.

Tell your freind to leave your plant alone and just let be, apart from water and ferts if you are using them littleoldme is right the plant uses energy gathered by the big fan leaves to grow. The only time you would probally take the lager leaves off are when they are dying or when the plant is flowering at the later stages to alow more sunlight. Im not an expert but thats what ive read and learnt.

well yah the leaves my friend took off were off 2 plants days away from havresting. but i got pissed off when he started taking them off the little ones still growing and just begining to bud. i snapped so hard at him cus hes one of those kind guys that think they "know it all" and tried to say he read it on high times and could prove it to me, but thats total bullshit! im just mad cus he holding back the plants full budding potential all b/c "he read it on high times" psh yeah right. ill let him know and say u guys know what ur doing obviously.

well i contradict that theory. I pruned my plants in the late budding stage last year, take off as quite alot of leaf (obviously leaving a leaves around buds) but take off the big (fan) ones or others. In the late period of budding it diverts more energy to the bud to swell and grow instead of the actual plant growing.

uh yah idk but you might be mistaken for what i meant if u didnt read what i said. i said my friend what taking off the leaves from the sprouting still growing hairing plants. and he was also taking some off of the late budding plants but he would just leave the stem on. i think youre suppose to take the whole thing off if you wanna have your plant put all its energy into producing bud.
