Alright, so a friend and I have begun our small outdoor grow. We live in southern Ontario in a fairly small town. We started this grow hoping for a VERY low maintenance grow, preferably visiting biweekly or less. We both live at home in subdivisions and have no way to grow indoors or outdoors nearby. So, we drove a ways out of town; Near enough that we could visit easily, but the spot would never be found.
Now here is where the problems start. We didn't really think it through as we wanted to see if we can get sprouts so we just planted the seeds straight up. We rolled over the soil, etc and found a lot of worms so we figured the soil was adequate. Our spot gets great sunlight and is under a small opening in the canopy. We now have about 18 sprouts in about a 2.5' by 2.5' section that are about an half an inch tall. Some of the sprouts are in clusters of 3, with roots around an inch long. So here are my questions: 1. Should we move the individual sprouts into different spots in the same forest area? Will this damage them what so ever? Or should we just let nature take its course and let natural selection give us the strongest plants, seeing as it grows in the wild anyways? 2. What should we do as far as protecting them from small animals? There wouldn't likely be deer near by, but we have seen rabbit droppings. Would male human urine and human hair do the trick? 3. Would a small stick fence(pile ;P) around 5 inchs high be sufficient to keep out rabbits if the urine/hair don't work? 4. Is it worth it to just plant new seeds? I can get them whenever, but I know the current seeds produce a nice end result. 5. Should we replace the soil that's already there, or would that stress the seedlings? 6. Is fertilizing recommended to improve quality of the plant? Or does it just improve yield? A good portion of the product will be for my smoking pleasure, as University will cut into my funds. 7. How often should the sprouts be watered? After they get moderately large can they be left alone? We get a fair amount of rain here and is sufficient as the only water source for a friend's parents organic garden. Any help would be appreciated, and I will likely provide pictures when we go tomorrow to give them some water unless any responses tell us otherwise. Thanks! |

1. I would get them spaced apart, just dig deep when you go to transplant
2. the urine and hair will work usually but only until it rains. Id go buy some cheap deer repellent. 3. No 4. Sure 5. I wouldnt mess with soil where they are growing now but I would transplant the ones close together in new holes with fresh soil 6. Yes, something high in Nitrogen for now until the end of June, then a high phosphorus nutrient after that. I feed once every 2 weeks 7. You sound like you get good amounts of rain like me, I would only water if I was you when you go to fertilize. Good Luck. |
