Rats eat plants?
I had a plant growing in a canyon and I found it today with only one leaf left; it had been topped by something--I suspect rats, which is interesting, I wouldn't think they would eat them, unless it is for nesting material. I know it was rats because there were droppings around the plants. There were no rabbit droppings.
Suggestions for deterrents? I had this plant planted in the ground to achieve a lower profile, but I may be forced to grow in pots if I can find no other solution. Thanks for any advice. |

I might also try cutting some cactus and placing the cactus around the circumference of the plant(s). I doubt the rats would be THAT determined to get some leaves. Maybe they're too small for it to hurt them though; I wonder... it should at least be a deterrent.
