Watering?
What is a good way to tell when a plant needs watering? I usually always end up over watering and under watering my plants throughout the outdoor season?

said so many times.. but stick your finger 1 inch into the soil if dry , water if damp wait a day or so and check again till its dry then its time to give them a drink.

Ive heard of that tons of times but I thought putting my finger in the dirt would touch the roots. So when I can stick my finger 1 inch down into the soil do I water till it comes out the drainage holes?
