using large Rubbermaid tubs?

Hey all. as you see from the title, i have 22 gallon rubbermaid tubs that i heard may make a suitable container for outside grow. Im thinkn im gunna get some monsters because there is a TON of soil in them. i mean me and another person can barely carry it when its full. so if they were given alot of sunlight and the plants were LST'd and fed properly, do you think i could pull off a pound/ plant? thanks gc

That sounds like a great plan. I got a little over 8 oz off my outdoor plant that grew in a 5 gal. bucket...I can't imagine how big your plant will get in 22 gal.

I have been planning on building some "earth boxes" for vegetables, but I bet they'd be great for herbs too.

yeah earthboxs sound like a good plan i wanted to try them but i dont really wanna invest the time into making my own or the money into ordering them. making your own is about 10 dollars as opposed to ordering the earthboxes that are 40.

I guess it was beginner's luck? I really didn't do anything special besides using a Homer Paint Bucket from Home Depot. (hey, it makes as much sense as insisting that only FoxFarms soil will grow good yields)

I was actually a little disappointed because I had to cut it early (major freakout when a helicopter was circling the house) and the buds hadn't developed to their full potential.

This was a sativa dom plant from bagseed. It grew in a homemade mix of generic potting soil, composted cow manure and peat moss. A couple of months into the grow, when I put the plant into the bucket, I sprinkled a cap-full of Osmokote fertilizer on the soil. Then around August I began adding one dose per week of Shultz liquid plant food per directions on the bottle (7 drops per quart I think).

The plant grew from March to October (around 7 months) to over 7' tall, that's why there was so much bud on her.

I'd say that the soil mixture and the fertilizer was a little something special. Great list of things and keep it simple but I bet there would have been more weight even if that damn helicopter hadn't freaked you out. I say 5 gallons is the way to go although 22 gallons is pretty huge! how do you keep it hidden from choppers?
