Good Idea to grow in a tree?

I was thinking about scaling a huge tree in this forest behind my house and setting up some easy ladder system to take me to the top. If I was to clear out and trim the leaves at the top and make a little opening then build a bed on the branches do you think this method will work well?

I have a nice backback that I can wear that can bring up much supplies plus I'd use tons of pulleys and other simple machines to get the job done to get everything going. I'd try to make rope ladders gradually taking me up the tree from branch to branch.

Yes it will work. I thought of this too recently, and mentioned it to a friend who said almost all the growers where he's from grow theirs in trees. It's apparently common in Hawaii too. Just be sure to secure everything so the plants don't get blown over by wind.

Ropes from tree to tree will bring attention to somthing you dont want people to know is there.

I used 3-5 gal buckets painted brown or green to blend in. They must be tied down in case of a strong wind.

What I did was this, it worked pretty well for me. I would put flare fittings in the top of the buckets, You want something that wont rip out. I would then attach 1/2in pex to the buckets, I would grow in groups of 5, the 1/2" pex would tee off to the buckets induvidualy.

I would leave the pex coiled up in the tree out of sight, I would even paint it the color of the tree I was using, or try to match it best I could. I would then tie fishing line to the end so I could pull the tubing down to ground level. I could then pump from the ground to the buckets. You can get pumps that attach to cordless drills that work well, but I always used just a reg hand pump. I could fill the buckets in about 3 min.

I would still have to climb up there to coil the pex back up, but I reckoned that I would have to check the plants anyway. Either way it saved me from climbing trying to hold onto a rope tied to a 10gal container of water.

I hope this makes sense, and best of luck in what ever way you go for.
