Growing on a tree platform.

Has anyone ever done this?

Most tall, strong trees are easy to climb, and there are enough sturdy branches that a platform, or "fort" of sorts could be built and used to grow the plants on. Setting up a pulley system would make it easy to get supplies up there, and the fact that it wouldn't be at the top of the tree wouldn't expose it to public view. It also won't be at ground level, so most people walking through wouldn't even notice. And the fact that it'll be above part of the canpoy, but below the top canopy of the trees would help hide it from "eyes" from above.

I've got some research and planning to do but I think it can be done with relative ease. :-)

Discuss.

I've thought about it.

lol i just checked out that link. No platform for him, just pots on the top of a pine tree... Seems like it worked pretty good for him...

I can't think of any place nearby where I could do the same. But I will be on the lookout now, if I see a good spot, I'd build a bit of a platform w/ some 2x4.

my buddy from hawaii said that many growers are doing this technique over there. They say its harder for the law to spot.

Above the bottom canopy of branches, below the top - I believe it.

I've half a mind to try this when summer rolls around, just to say I did. It'd be easy to keep birds out, some chainlink around the sides and top would prevent it, as well as act as a screen once the plants are large enough.

Over the next couple weeks I may just make plans... If I do, it'll be a very detailed grow journal.
