Old hippie advice?

Got this old hippie neighbor that told me about planting in trees.

Basicaly he told me to find a nice oak tree and drill a nice size hole in it and put you sprout in wiht a little dirt to hold it until the roots graft to the tree.

According to him you dont have to water much or feed because the pot gets what it needs from the tree wh has a much larger root system.

ANyone heard or done this?

Haha ok wait, drill a hole and plant it? So like you've got an oak tree with what seems to be a branch growing, but its really just a marijuana plant?

I've heard of this also. I'm no tree expert, but i think it might work better in a softer wood tree... the roots may have trouble getting through the hard oak wood.

hmmm... that sounds like something to try out.. especially if you just have bagseed, I mean.. whats to lose! hahah, and if it works with a full tree that gets plenty of water, you could buy GOOD seeds, and get an awesome harvest. I never thought about grafting cannabis to a tree

I think a tall pine would work better, because it doesn't have as much shade as a grown oak, and the wood is alot softer
I got 2 germinated seeds that I'm waiting to pop up, and I already got a plant started in my closet, so I think when 1 of the new seeds comes up I will try this

Sounds like a buddy of mine he put the plant right up in the tree and said "Oh no one will find that shit", well the next night it was gone. I said your stupid for leaving the ladder on the same tree you planted up in. But it was in a pot.

Do NOT plant your pot near any pine trees as their needles (leaves) are very acidic and will kill any plant within the diameter of the tree(s). They'll turn the soil acidic=death.

It's not grafting, grafting is where you join the top of one plant to the bottom of another. With grafting the vascular tissue of the two plants join together.

The method the op's talking about has the marijuana plant physically growing inside the oak tree. I really don't think it's possible as the roots of the marijuana plant aren't made to parasitize on other plants. They don't have the ability to enter the oak trees' vascular tissue and get the water they need.

There are some plants that physically live on other plants without parasitizing them, but these live in rain forests so their source of water is the frequent rains that fall. Even if you happen to live in a rain forest though I don't see that marijuana could live in this fashion as it hasn't evolved to be able to survive like this.

true true. didn't think about that. well.. next time I get some bagseed I will do some experimenting for everyone, and keep a grow journal for it. be sure to look for it in the future.

some trees to start with that I know are around me: (I know the types cuz I was in Ag, and I can determine the tree by the leaf.. nerdy I know)

Northern Red Oak: doesn't have too much shade like a white oak, because it grows very tall

Willow Oak: a pretty dense tree, but the leaves are very narrow, so it doesn't block too much sun.

Beech: not a very shady tree, and the wood is not as hard as oak

Pine: can grow very tall with virtually no shade at all when they are not grouped together (some think the PH level could be a problem.. but that is why this is an experiment.. with bagseed)

Sycamore: can be shady due to the HUMUNGEOUS leaves in the summer, but decent wood

OK so there are 5, I will see when I can get some seeds and try to get this underway, with many many pictures. and if I do it well and it turns out, then I will make a tek for it, and maybe get a sticky

credit will be due to Spastic and his hippie neighbor though

I talked to him a little more and what we have in our area is either pine ,live oak or mansanita and the live oak works the best because the rotted leaves below give alot of nitrogen to the soil. He swears to this method. He even has one of those 45 min hippie storie s to go with it.

as for your area try cutting off a leaf at teh stem and testing the ph on the water. if its 6.5 to 7 you should be good i bet the yield would be crap lol but would be fun to try none the less.

I talked to him again and he said something about it doesnt parasite into the tree, that it more wicks from it.
