New Outdoor grow beginning Mid-Late April

Hey guys,

I am preparing for my first ever outdoor grow and believe I have the bases covered pretty well but some love from you guys could really go a long way. Most of my remaining questions involve the initial start up , the first 3 or 4 weeks.

I know how to germinate seeds, in fact, damn well. I also know how to plant them in the soil about 1 inch deep with obviously the sprout facing down and the remaining shell on top.

Now, I intend to grow in soil without buckets. And what I mean is this, I intend to dig about ten pretty large holes and fill them with good soil. My reasoning for this is two parted. First would be security. Seeing large pots in close proximity to one another with plants growing out of them can pretty much mean only one thing. Although I do not ever expect this site to be seen by anyone, safety is always of the utmost importance. Secondly, I do not want the plants to be limited in anyway in terms of space. A five gallon pot I do not suspect will be enough to contain these plants with the sunlight they will be getting. I am not in the business of messing around with transplanting and other garbage where the plants could become damaged or reject thier new environment.

My question is this: Which balance of soil would be best fit for my grow in this case? I need something that will grow basically from a toddler all the way through flowering. Would 20-20-20 be best fit or would you recommend a different balance?

Next, My seed choice is definitely going to be one of the mostly Sativa trait. It has been shown to me several times and ways that Sativa grow best outdoor and under the proper circumstances can turn out to look like small trees rather than plants. I also will be purchasing seeds that are "feminised". I again, do not want to mess around with planting 20 getting 6 female and having gone through the effort of germing, digging holes and planting and nurturing a plant to find out it was a waste. I am 100% willing to spend the extra money for some high caliber seeds that will 99% produce females. I live in Connecticut , USA. So the last frost should be coming sometime soon. Like I put in title, I expect to start the outdoor part in late April.

Questions: Can I trust feminised seeds? And if so, what seedbanks are to be trusted?
Also, I live in USA, which seed distributor can I trust above an 85% success rate to get me my package discreetly?

Also, Would you recommend any particular Sativa strain???? I am interested in Purple Power because it looks beautiful and read reviews state the high is exactly what I am looking for.

Lastly, I plan to germinate the seeds inside and then bring them outside to my stealth location as I may have eluded to before. Is there any precautions I need to take when transporting these early plants to thier new and final home several miles apart??? Obviously, I know to be delicate and such , but would it be best to do in daylight or nighttime?? In other words do they need sunlight during this planting process or anything like that?

All and all, Thank you guys so much for even taking the time to read the kind of long list of questions I have. Any comments would be useful and answers would be great. Try to make it clear which question you are answering, as there are a lot of questions to be had. Also, with fear of sounding rude... Please only answer something if you really do know what you are talking about. I appriciate any help but if it is a response that is not accurate it is not much help at all, is it??.

sounds like u know a thing or two about growing, make sure to show us progress pics here at GC.

umm.. sprouts can get easily nute burned.. most people start out with nute free soil and then once the plant is in vegging stage they add nutes?

Yes, feminised seeds can be trusted, they're pretty much a 95%+ chance of being female. In terms of what site to buy the seeds from, I've boughten off marijuana-seeds.nl .. they shipped me my seeds fast, and discreetly.

And on the question of recommended sativa strain .. I guess it would depend on how long your growing season is and the environmental climate. Because I've heard many sativa strains are longer flowering, so you don't want to end up with a plant that vegged for 80% of your growing season, and didn't get to finish its flowering.

all hypothetical of course.

Triplebla,

Really appriciate the quick feedback. Can you shed some light on to that site you mentioned? What country is it located in and most important will they ship to USA? If paying with credit card what amount of time should I expect until I see the seeds at my door?

Like I said, you guys are champs.

And I also think I have the flowering cycle and time constraints pretty well figured out. I just wanted to see if anyone reallllly recommended anything.

Thanks in advance.

Awesome to see you starting a grow soo soon. April 6 is right around the corner. Now do not forget to adhere to the last frost of the year. A frost will wipe out a crop in one shot.

I noticed you are Northern Cal, so hopefully you have all this figured out. but in Connecticut I am reading that our last frost is supposed to be around April 22nd. So I intend to put mine in the ground a few days after that. These frost estimates can never be 100% accurate but they will be as accurate as possible.

I will be germing mine and growing to about 1 -2 inches before I set them outdoors under flouros inside. I will be growing feminised seeds for a hefty buck. so I do not want anythign interefering with my success.

I'm in CT as well, I plan on germing them and getting them going inside in a week and a half or so. Start them in pots and just keep an eye on the temps, it's been like around 50 or so lately, hopefully that continues and we'll be able to just leave them outside full time in 3 or 4 weeks or so.

Just keep your eye on the temps.

If you've got a limited amount of beans and want to be absolutely sure, then give it an extra week, but I would def wait to put them in the ground, you never know, we can get snow or a cold blast late up here.

In my opinion feminised seeds have tendencies to turn into hermes especially if they dont have a smooth first couple of months of life. I would buy from a seedbank with good genetics and usually you can find a decent number of females to males this way.
