I was thinking about doing an outdoor grow this spring/summer. if i find a good sunny spot and am able to water it every week, will i need to put black plastic bags over them so they get 12/12 lighting? i read that somewhere but im not sure if i need to do that. thanks.

not unless you want to harvest early.

towards august/september the sun goes on its own 12/12 lighting schedule and your plants will flower on their own

just water, prune,,, and sit back and wait for the bud to roll in,,,

..
