Need help for growing SMALL plant outdoors

Hey GC,

Well, I've planted some bag seeds into some pots like yesterday. This is my first grow of any description, so I'll describe the scenario for you;

I have put the pots in my neighbours yard (my neighbour just randomly deserted their house like 3 months ago, and I have no reason to believe their coming back...) so they can get a heap of sun, and sprout. So, where I need help is; how can I 'control' their growth, or just kind of stunt them a bit, so that they don't get massive and can be seen over the fence, or smell heaps (I'm living with my parents, who would NOT approve). Also, about how long does it take for them to sprout?

This is my first growing experience ever, so I don't mind some stuff going wrong or anything. It's more of n experiment to see how viable growing my own is going to be, and how difficult it might be etc. But on the other hand I'm reasonably optimistic, so any help you can give me would be appreciated heaps!

Thanks a lot

An MJ plant will always grow to the size of the pot, and usually about 1 gallon represents 1-2 feet of growth.

So if you want a 4 foot tall plant, plant it in a 3-4 gallon bucket and that should limit the height. Search LST to find out about training your plants if you still want to do that, or topping.

Where exactly in the hemisphere are you growing? If its winter where you're located, unfortunately you planted your seeds at the wrong time and will have to wait til the spring.

Good luck!

Thanks, I'm in Western Australia, so it's summer here.... and we get some hot as summers! Like, I'm talking 45 degrees celcius or so, so frost etc won't be an issue for me. I'll look up the LST sticky now

Lst

Look up the training known as LST and find the answers you seek. You can still get a great yeild, but grow out horizontally and support the outstretching branches. You bend the branches(without snapping), and tye them so the inner part of the plant is showing more. This will cause the inner part to become all tops, while growing horizontally. So its actually benificial.
