My friend is an idiot

He planted in late august and plans to pull his plant in 2-3 weeks. I keep telling him it won't be smokable. It's an indica plant and it has been budding for 1-2 weeks. Will he get anything? He's defying me and saying I'll prove you wrong. Oh well it's his plant he can fuck it up if he wants.

After 4-5 weeks of flowering, especially if it's an indica dominant plant, it is certainly possible that it will get you intoxicated if you smoke it, but it won't be very potent (in terms of it's genetic potential) and the yeild will similarly not be what it could've been.

Worst case, a modest amount of hash, oil, or cannabutter could be made out of it... or just smoke a lot of BIG joints.

Now that's IF the plants survive another 2-3 weeks as your friend plans. If it's getting cold, or too rainy all the time they may not survive that long.

Cold will probably not be the problem, especially if there's foliage around to block some wind, but it's been rainy/cloudy in your parts all week no?.... but the long term forcast is showing a couple sunny weekends (rain/cloud as well)... also depends on how robust the plant is; it's geneticly-determined resistence to mold. Also, many cloudy days slow down the maturing process.

I say: they're already goin, leave them as long as you can before mold and you may be surprised. .. or not. Not like you're paying rent on the ground they're growin in.

thanks for the tips. Is there any way to rig up something to help it survive a little longer?

There's no way to prevent mold/rot if the weather stays rainy long enough. Its best to buy seeds of strains with strong mold resistance characteristics. All you can do at this point is keep a close eye on the girls and remove any parts that show the signs before it spreads (sacrifice the branch to save the tree). Some say to shake the plants after rain to get the excess water off, but I don't know if this is a good thing (could stress the plant, making it MORE suseptable to mold - just like people, depression or stress suppresses immunity)

As I said, cold should not be the problem for you, worst case the plants will turn purple (eventually, with enough consistant cold, they will die, only a greenhouse can prevent this).

Leave it on till the mold starts to show then pull... Shake the plant after rains...... and hope for the best.
