i think you should put them in bigger pots prob 5 gal, because you can keep it outside till frost hits then bring it indoor if you need it and also you get to feed them through their growth. In the ground is going to be hard to transplant a real big plant, but in the ground roots have more space to grow. Its all up to you and what you think is goin to be better for you and the plants but i say bigger pots . you should post some pics of them after transplanted

I think the BESTEST thing would be to stick them in some good soil in the ground. HOWEVER, there's nothing wrong with pots at all as long as you use good soil and big enough pots. I use pots mainly due to the ease of moving them when needed. If they're in the ground, you better find a good spot.

my spot is fairly good i think,
its on the outskirts of the city that i live in.
exactly 8km away, which is awesome.
on a good size patch of property away from all foot-traffic.
and the owner will never know its there,
unless theres a freak lightning storm or some shit that starts
a big fire or something

the dirt in the ground should be pretty good cause theres lots of vegetation around
and most of the vegetation consists of large bushes tall grass and wild flowers,
all very healthy too from what i can tell

anyways i think im leaning more towards putting them in the ground,
unless somebody can give me a good enough reason NOT to.

If you use at least a 15 gallon pot, the portability factor makes it preferable IMHO, going into the ground this late in the season and you could have an early frost, animal troubles, vulnerability to the local molds and fungi is increased. Do you know the PH of your plot? Do you have adequate drainage and a ready water supply? Some of those local conditions could affect your yields. But only you can judge, either way, grow that green!

It's called a " Soil PH Meter ", any garden store should carry them and it's a real cheap way to avoid transplant problems, you can always treat soil, but it's best to do that before you start.

This year I started 14 plants all at the sametime. White widow. They all went outside one the same day. 4 directly in the ground with good soil. The other 10 in 5 gallon buckets. They are in the same area all get the same amount of sun, nutes and water. The 10 in the bucket are much much bigger bushier and healthy looking. I think buckets are best.
