Easy Transplant Method
I have been growing plants outdoors in 5 gallon plastic bags. Foxfarms Happy Frog dirt with 25% perlite. I take the best plants and transplant into 8 gallon and larger pots. I use a sharp knife and cut a ring, 2 inches from the bottom, all the way around the bag. This works best when the soil is ready to be watered, or fairly dry.
Next, I prepare the transplant pot by filling it 4 inches from the top and watering deep.
I pick up the plant from the bottom stem and the bottom of the dirt. Slip your hand between the bottom of the bag and the dirt. Pick it up and place in pot.
Slit the bottom of the plastic bag with 6 4 inch verticle slices around the bag and pull up on the plastic to expose more dirt and roots.
Pack all around with new dirt to fill pot, water well and you're done.
Hint! Have plant and pot right next to each other. You dont want to walk across a room to do this.
I water plants from top and it seeps to moisten all dirt below. Also there is no transplant shock. Plants take off with no drooping or loss of vigor. See pics.
