did the sun fry my plants!!!!!! quick question urgent

ok so i was growing some weed under some fluros in cups, when the suckers got big enough i was going to transplant them outside.....so I did, each plant was abo0ut 5 inches high, just lil guys, and I carefully took them out of the cups and put them in the dirt outside...without harmin the roots. I live in puerto rico and the sun is very bright so I picked a spot where i thought they would get the most sun...

3 DAYS PASS

after three days of great carribean sun I decided to go check on them. It had also rained atleas once each day during the three days. When i get to the site my six lil guys are "shriveled" up, they look really dry, as does the soil as well. Was this because they did not recieve enough water? I did not think anything of it because it had rained. I am just guessing this because the soil was very dry, but I dont understand why my plants got all shriveled up, the leaves cracked upon feeling them. SOoooooo.........as we all know seasons about to be over, im germinating a batch tonight to get one my try in..................I just want to know what i can do to avoid this problem again.....and maybe find out exactly what the probelem was. If its any help I put them in the plain soil in the ground..but they had been growing iand doing fine in some potting soil before i planted them outdoors.

Be sure they are watered. I am no expert but it seems I have heard that when you move them outdoors it should be a gradual proccess (more outside exposure each day) to get them used to the strong UV rays from the sun. Maybe 1 hour the first day, 2 hours the 2nd day etc.

DUDE. You baked them. There is a process called "hardening off" that must be gone through when moving indoor plants outside. That star we orbit around every year...well, its BRIGHT! Not the brightest of stars, but none the less, its much more powerful than any man made flourecent light here on earth. Next time do what the guy above has said to do, but instead off starting off with 1 HOUR...try 15 minutes...then move up for 2 weeks.

The way I harden my off. If the temps are ok is to put them in light shade for a few days. Then start letting them have abit of sun each day

i planted mine in the midwest and its rained twice in a total of 3 weeks and they were greener than ever when i checked on them.. So unless you have time to slowly adapt them to outdoors, just start them outside..

I'd second that. Both of my plants were clones, as soon as I got them home from the pharmacy, outside they went. It took about 2 weeks for them to get out of lock up and start growing, but once they did, they just kept chugging along and thriveing, off only 6 hrs of direct sunlight!

Id get them germinated and just big enough to withstand the elements, and chuck em outdoors! Good luck!
