worst season !!!

Well, I was making good time getting my seeds out. Germinated right after frost, and they were lil sprouts atleast a week after frost. Pretty sure there was no frost since they were out.


My friend started his at the same time, and mine were much bigger than his. Both outdoors, but yet it seemed like he has a sunnier location...

Anyway, I put some the ground out in my little forest plots, about 10 in the ground, 20 in pots.


They were doing excellent, and then all of a sudden 2 got eaten by slugs...

and another 3...

So I try putting stuff around to get rid of these slugs, and then like 5 were eaten...

And then I tried even more stuff to get rid of the slugs, and even more got eaten.

BUT, weirdest part was that a cupple of them were SNAPPED at the stem. Straight up, fucking snapped.

And even a cupple were snapped at the stem, and like 4-6" away from the stem in the ground.



All but like 3 of my best plants have been eaten, and the other smaller ones don't look that healthy anymore.....


So now I lifted up one of the pots, and there was this MASSIVE collection of small tiny lil red ants pilling out the bottom of the pot, tons of them too.

And then, around all the ones in the ground the soil is all white along the top, cobwebby and stuff... like mold. Thick white mold overtop my soil....

And one of the plants that was snapped I pulled out of the ground, still with the peetcup, and halfway through the peetcup hanging out was this long yellow roach like lloking thing, about an inch long... looked pretty scarry too....




so yeah... I'll grow them cupple plants, but I'm not expecting much anymore .....

I was planning on starting a cupple more......... but damn.





So, I'm growing this very nice bonsai plant too. In a different location, very protected, lots of sun.

Its in a dish about 3" by 1" deep..... and its already half a foot tall with lots of leaves...

looks pretty fucking cool.

Its more of a fun thing than growing anything..... and its not going to get eaten where it is....


but DAMN!




I'm SO angry.




I could start again now, but its kind of late and wouldn't they just get eaten again?

slugs wont eat them when the sprouts eventually grow 2 or 3 nodes and a decent root structure, they love to chow on germinated/just planted sprouts, and are attracted to the pots, i am a victim of slugs in the past, best way to cure that is to build barriers and ash or wood chips around the perimeter, most recommended is the tried and true method of slug killer, but don't stop planting seeds, they may eat one hundred seeds in one day but it's ur job to stop them for a week or two and allow growth so next time they can withstand. june 1st is the latest i'd plant seeds, anything later and it's not worth the effort in the end.

sounds like you live in a pretty bug infested area, maybe growing out in certain parts of the wilderness isn't for you, but dont let anyone tell you what you can and cant

I'll start these ones in my protected area again, and then moved them out to the foresty soil when they have there lil marijuana leaves....

But thats gonna be weeks from now, and its june 1st today.....

June first today shit i'm way late then ha i have like two plants of 5 bag seed growing germinated and barely visible so am i fucked? all i really want is to see how this goes then go bigger.

And what about this fucked up weather? its hotter way earlier now and all due to global warming i know to keep em shaded but is that as soon as they sprout like keep out of hotest part of day sun or just let those puppies have it. its been low 80s for while basically cool at night some cooler days but they calling for low 90s here this weekend.

Seeds growing in 4in diameter pots so i can bring em in and out. any recamendations <( even on spelling would be helpful).

And that sucks dire sorry man plant tho dont let it discourage ya.

I hate slugs!
I had the same problem so I went on a full offensive with slug pellets (I know they are bad for birds) Sprinkled salt around the plants and then just to show them whos boss i put a small dish of beer(its sposed to attract them) at the side. The next morning it was like Hiroshima! Manky half melted carcasses of slugs lying in the salt and 2 slugs floating in the beer with little smiles on their eh .... faces?!
