So you just pile those up around the perimeter, not mix them together? I take it the soap shavings are just bar soap you shave off with a knife or something and the human hair is just sort of laying on the ground?

This is a great thread, everyone's exchanging ideas.

I have a few questions:

Fimming- my understanding is that fimming and topping are about the same. But in topping where you cut the entire new growth off the top between branches, with fimming you cut about 70-80% of that and somehow it creates four new branches instead of the two that topping makes. Is that right?

Bugs- Is there any reason not to use Need Oil? It sounds like Neem prevents and kills mold and kills and wards off most bugs and is organic. Plus, it's residual from what I understand and you only need to use it once a week or so as a preventative. I was thinking about using it preemptively after my plants are a few weeks old unless someone tells me it affects the plant over time.

Another question on training: Is it enough to just tie the top down at about a 45 degree angle once the plants is two or three feet tall? Bending the plant bent to that angle should force the other branches to become more viable . But, if I were to tie the top at 45 degrees I take it I would also have to move the string every week add an additional tie down every week or two. Is that right?

I have a White Rhino indica that's probably going to be bushy so that half the buds will be under the the big shade leaves and that tying the main branch down will help. Plus I'm hoping it reduces the chance of mold at the lower branches.

Yes I just pile them around the parameter, no mixture, and yes just a bar soap with a knife to shave.

I have alot of deer in my area to and the only method i have used to keep them away is get a dirty sock put it on a stick and pee on the sock. Then put the stick in the ground in the middle of your crops. Been doing this for 5 years now and havnt lost a plant to deer yet. Another method my friend tol me about is just to tie a string tight around your crop area and rub it with dish soap they usaully wont pass it.

Good Luck

i love the ghetto deer repellents!

if its feasible, ive seen like net domes that are 5 feet tall. or you can make one out of chicken wire.

or put chicken wire like 5 feet tall.

Google chicken wire, you'll recognize it. Throw up some 5' tall fences of it around your girls, close enough that deer can't get to them, but not so close than they are constricted of growth. Consider spray repellants too?

i tried finding chicken wire.....but i found this blastic fence.....i think it'll work....got 7' ones.....and some wooden posts......my question is how should i make like a way to get in without like cutting the fence.....i put like twisty ties connecting 2 ends.....but it still sux getting in......and should i like get something to keep the fence attatched to the ground so nothing can sneak under it?

Thanks

Hey xxkmanxx, were u gonna get the clones from your friend or were u getting seeds like you mentioned later. If you do use the clones you'll wanna harden them up for the first 1-2 weeks. To do that you'll wanna introduce the plants to a shady area for about an hour than bring them back inside. For the rest of the day put a light on them or put by a window sill. Than as each day progresses you'll wanna extend the time outside in 30 minute to 1 hour intervals. As your doing this you should eventually put them in their future growplot to get direct sunlight for afew hours aday.
Does this make sense? Its a gradual process so your plants toughen up to the outside weather. You'll be the best judge at how their reacting to the sun than you can decide when to keep outside long and longer until it is permanent. Also look out for NJ Thunderstorms in the beginning hardening phase.

About the fencing. My fence is similar to yours but i have a metal fence with one side being that bright orange plastic fence used for temporary jobs, in pool constructions or whatever. So i made a pivot in the flexible fence long enough for me and watering cans to fit through. the end is then attached to a post that i hammer into the ground wheneven i need to get in. ofcourse i have to pull it out each time, but it was the only way i thought to make a "door". Can you construct that imagery?

Its funny the first day I constructed this fence i thought, hell i don't need a door i'll just jump over this 5' tall fence off a step ladder. ofcourse once i jumped off the ladder it flew out from underneath me and i fell right on my back crushing the metal fence. I wouldn't give up either and kept trying it and fell every time. So the door was a good idea.

I live in NJ too btw, i dug up a foot around the parimeter and piled the dirt on either side of the fence touching the ground. So every time i open the "door" from the pivot i have to dig it up, its so bad cus the plot is 100 hundred feet from my house on my property. Nothing has dug under the fence yet. (A baby rabbit did get in through a weakness in the fence but thats another story. ) Finally i shaved my head and beard and used that hair to line the parimeter along with crushed garlic & ofcourse my piss. Every day i'll take my dogs for a walk to my spot just to add as much as security as i can.

Damn I wrote alot. Goodluck!

Yeah man deer are fuckin horrible in NJ. Better make sure you get harvested by hunting season cause hunters will prolly be all over that field. I just get a real old dirty sock, pour soap/water on it, pee on it, and then put in on a stick. Do like 5 of these and stake them around your perimeter. I don't use a fence cause it would tend to stick out more if someone wondered by.
