Indoor yield vs. Outdoor yield

I've heard that plants can yield up to 20 ounces per plant, but I look in all of the grow journals on this site and see that these people only achieve like 2 ounces per plant. All of those grow journals were indoor grows though, so i was wondering is there a difference between yields? How much can i expect per plant outdoors?

outside plants will yield more than indoor plants mainly because they get the best hps light money CANT buy the sun! but its still impossible to tell you what amount of difference it makes as there are so many factors to consider.

I personally believe all that matters is container size, plant size, and strain the sun only produces like 15,000 watts of light per square foot on a good day which can be more than doubled indoors with cooled lights....so i guess its only a matter of preference and convience. peace

and if you think i dont know what im talkin about, check out my plants in the general growing forum "Blueberry yum yum"!!!

Without a doubt, you will get more from the outdoor plants. Depending on the size of your room will make a difference in the size of your yield. If you have a small growing room, your yield is limited. I also think the natural sunlight and fresh air make a difference in the size and how fast your plants will grow.

with giant plants indoors you dont have sun coverage like you do outside (unless you have lots of side lighting too). when you grow a giant plant inside with only a top light you end up with tons of tiny shaded popcorn bud and really only the tops get nice and fat, so its kind of a waste of space. thats why people push out 1-2 ounces per small plant because at that size the light penetration is enough for the whole plant, and you end up with lots of good dense bud. fewf, ramble

im using clones for outdoors right now. so how much less should i expect from them weight wise as opposed to a seed.. they are WW and they are about 13 inches outdoors right now in the cali sun

Clones won't do worse than seed, often better. My Sativa dominant plants awlays do significantly better from clone vs seed, because the noding starts so low. Outside in southern cali! Figure you've got 3-4 months of vegging, you could have some 4-6 footers to deal with! The only thing limiting you to under a pound a plant would be container size, and of course screwing up...

For a beginner I don't see why you couldn't do at least 6 ounces/plant in five gallon pots.
