Outdoor Grow 2007

Well, today was an exciting day for me. I officially started my second grow today. This is however, my first outdoor grow.

It has been quite inexpensive for me. I have Botanicare Organic Liquid nutes (grow and bloom). I bought two bags of Fox Farm Happy Frog organic soil, and spent 45 minutes in the spot in the woods I chose digging four holes in the middle of the night with a red headlamp for light. Each hole got half of the bag of soil.

Once I completed this, I covered the soil with natural looking shrubbery and pinestraw so it would blend in.

I have 8 seeds germinating in organic plugs in a humidy dome right now with a couple drops of superthrive in the water below the plugs. I plan to grow them indoors for two weeks and then slowly start adapting them to the outdoors, and ultimately planting them about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks from now hopefully.

I am going to plant three in two of the holes and two in another. The fourth plot is going to be random bagseed just thrown in there. Probably about 5 seeds just germinated and planted. As the plants grow, we will cull any weak or otherwise undesireable plants, and hopefully end up with at least two females out of a total five.

I am also hoping they might show some presex flowers while they are still small enough to leave multiple plants in a single hole, however I will not sacrifice root growth for weak plants. From my previous experience, this will be unlikely. Most probably, by the time they show presex flowers, there will be one plant per hole.

Well thanks for anyone reading, any advise, let me know.

PS- My first grow was an indoor hydroponic organic DWC bucket, with which I successfully grew THREE MALE PLANTS OUT OF THREE SEEDS! So hopefully I can get at least one female this time. Wish me luck.

with there being pine needles on the ground it should be good, but are they going to get enough sunlight?

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

Yes, they will get PLENTY of light, at lease 10 hours of direct light. I will be camfloging (sp?) solo cups so that they stick a bit above ground, and when I transplant them, I'm just gonna cut the bottom of the solo cup off and bury them. The lip of the solo cup sticking up should keep ground level pine needles off my plants.

Today, I have 8 sprouts. I am amazed at the superthrive, it seems to have really made the difference. I am going to transplant them from their organic plugs to FoxFarm organic soil. Hopefully. I know the root system of MJ can me much more complex then what's going on above ground, so I really want to get that taken care of.

Thanks for the help.

hey just wanted to ask, would it be a good idea to give my plants a couple of drops of fertiliser even though their only like a week old? would it make them grow faster? or just do more harm than good?
