| grow roof panels for patio
would these polycaronate panels be ideal for growing a few MJ plants under? http://www.laserlite.com.au/products.../solartuff.asp I'm going to build a pergola across my back yard area using the roof panels and my concern is that growth under the panels will not be restricted. The reason I am putting in the panels is that the sun is very intense in summer - too intense you might say. Some of my regular hardy native plants are in fact dying because the area is like a heat sink with limited windflow, direct hot sun, and reflective fences bouncing light around in the small area. The roof panels block out nearly all UV for general human benefits. my questions to growers on this forum is, 1) does cutting out UV rays (which the roof sheets do), not impact on plant growth in any way, ie plants don't need any UV to grow properly 2) are these panels just as good as greenhouse grow panels found on greenhouses, are they very similar and basically would these do the job or is a special kind of roof panel needed for growing and this is just a basic patio panel not up to snuff? The panel producers talk about "Light Transmission" qualities of the panels and that the clear version of the panels have 93% light transmission. they also have a "10 year warranty against loss of light transmission". So can I basically be assured that with these the UV is the only thing not getting through but all other components of the light does in fact get through the panels and therefore they are fine for growing plants under? |
