When does a plant trigger flowering outdoors?

hey guys long time since iv been here asking for advice!

i started 4 plants outdoors, all blueberry x northern lights ,about 10 days before summer started (im in new zealand...about the 20th of november or something) and now its been a month and theyre each about 1ft high, theyve stretched quite alot since this summer hasnt been one of our best, and theyve got really fat leaves

but OK i was wondering when my plants will start to show signs of flowering, is it late summer? early fall? an estimate DATE would be really good. i need to know in advance so i can get the bloom ferts all ready so theres no delay, these babies have to be as big and fuicy as possible in the nz sun

my first 100% outdoor grow! im sure this one will go better than my indoor grow did

cheer fellas, good to b back

most strains flower when the hours or sunlight start to decrease, i think its under 13 1/2 hours or indicas and under 12 for sativas.

The peak of summer is usually around 18/6, then after the peak roll off you start going lower and lower. then once you get to fall you will get 12/12, well basically as it gets closer to 12/12 your plant will start getting ready to reproduce and the buds will start to form, no one can tell you for sure since different strains take different periods of time to bud.

First problem is that your an all black.........hahaha, AUssie here.

Yeah ive got an outdoor grow as well, and i'm guessing our grows would be similar.
I've just got some pre-flowers showing now. But i don't expect to harvest until Late Jan - Feb.

That sounds kind of early, in the north harvest is in the fall, your fall is March, April right so I'd sepculate you will see signs late January throu late february depening on strain.

IMHO if thats pre-flower then male have them to. what your seeing there is, for a better word, the sheath from new growth. Pre-flower is the bulge that will split into hairs or continue and develop into balls. Also, instead of topping and fimming start LST training if your worined about height.

The plants will start to flower when THEY start to notice the days getting shorter. This is different for each strain.

As for when fall starts, your near 12/12 and it'll start to flower isn't necessarily true. The plant will flower when it senses the days are getting shorter and it's getting less light, which means winter is coming. For me, this normally happens before fall around 14-15 hours of light. Could just be my strain but if it started flowering at the beginning of fall, it'd finish too late.

If your plants are already a foot tall, they'll most likely be able to flower even if it starts today. You just won't get the 7 foot monsters we all love.

i never said that at 12/12 is when plants start to flower, I said that the plants flower as the days get closer to 12/12.

thanks for all your answers guys.

senior: well this strain is blueberry x northern lights, i dont know any info about it or anything but it sounds OK to me theyre not actually a foot tall, i thought they were, , its probably only 9-10" but i guess thats ok theyve only been around a month

spanish: that sounds perfect for 'em...im just hoping youre right, thatd give them a nice veg time and hopefully big juicy, blueberry buds

thanks again guys.
