Growing in the Tops of trees.

I read an article i dont know were but someone grew in the tops of trees. how is this possible? sounds like it would work good. does anyone have any info on this or ever tried it. please help

i actually read that this was HUGE years ago, after hearing about it, last summer i wanted to move a couple of plants i had up into a tree, i kept insisting on it, but nobody would help me get them up there because they thought it was stupid

Yea you just put the post with the plant in it on top of the tree and secure it. Thats about it.

How woul you go about accomplishing this?

Would a platform have to be built an then the pots put ontop? Or could u somehow strap the pot to the tree?

Ive done this, but the problem is, its a different setup for each tree. It depends on where the tree is, how large it is, which parts get light if any, how accessible the spot is as well.
Personally it was my favorite grow.

You just have to be ready to secure it as it gets windy in tree tops, and it has to be accessible so you can check it just as often as an outdoor grow, if not more.

heres the plan, a row of hemlock pines, remove the tops of the trees and nail and strap pots up in the air. with the buckets securely in place, i would run clear tubing to the base of the plants and with a timer on, they water the buckets a precise amount every day pumped from a large reservoir through the tubes to the tops of the trees. just have 30 gallon tubs in the ground buried and then run the pumps from the bottom

i know this is a good idea but wouldn't this be very obvious to planes or hellicopters? how would you desquise it? i thought like canvas bags tied to branches instead of pots in the trees. how high would i have to put them in the tress. would the sun shine through the pine needles or what? thanks everyone just trying to get some more info

Good idea with the trees but the only problem i see is pumping the water that high. Make sure you have a pump that will handle that type of head. I guess you would need a pump with at least 3o feet of available head.

not to mention electricity, really, just getting it there in any way would completely give away your grow, if you want to do this, you have to do it oldschool, no electronic-lazyfying gizmos,

i also think above-average climbing skills if not nessecary would definately help...

plus lugging a ladder around like that would be kinda difficult, expecially if its a distance, and if it is attatched to the tree, that would kinda but a downer on the concealment...
