Greetings OG's! I believe this may be my first post to this forum?
![]() I posted this to another similar forum. I hope you don't mind my posting it here as well. Anyone here have any experience or recommendations for any of the above products? Stealth and scouting cams can go a long way towards protecting your investments, and possibly your life. Here are just two examples of said product: http://cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templ...amera&noImage=0 http://www.basspro.com/servlet/cata...t=SearchResults These can tip you off to previous presence near your plot(s) of critters, rippers, and most importantly, LEO. I haven't set one up yet and wondered if anyone else has, and could make a recommendations or share some experiences or info on exactly how they work, how to set them up and/or best use them. Be aware too that LEO has used these for various purposes from busting on dumpers, poachers and even OG's and GG's. Which brings us to the second defense tool, a fine set of binoculars. Having a proper set will allow safe scanning of plots and trails prior to accessing them and are just a good thing to have for anyone who spends alot of time in the wild, like OG's and GG's. You may be able to tip yourself to the presence of dangerous animals, insects, situations (ever fall in quicksand? It's terrifying), and of course, LEO and/or LEO's stealth cams. Plus, having a set on you makes it more plausible to say to LEO or anyone who might ask you what you're doing in the woods where you are that you are simply bird watching. A wise security measure is to move slowly in the woods and scan ahead as you near your plot(s). Take a different path each time if possible. Binocular and lens technology has made great strides in the last decade or so. There are many advanced coatings that allow even small pocket sized binoculars to be very useful. There are even some that allow for magnified night vision. This is only one example, there are many more: http://cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templ...ll&N=4887&Nty=1 Get to know the various types of binoculars and which types might best suit your needs. A wise investment that can come in handy for other situations too, like concerts or sporting events if that's your thing. Additional comments and/or experiences welcome. This thread is not to engender any sense of paranoia, only personal safety. Again, I have no affiliation whatsoever with any of the manufacturers or retailers of any of these products. I realize some of these can be a bit pricey for many OG's, but I guess you have to ask yourself how much your personal security and hard work are worth. Good luck and green thumbs in '07. ![]() <?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shape id=_x0000_i1029 style="WIDTH: 18.75pt; HEIGHT: 13.5pt" type="#_x0000_t75" alt=""><v:imagedata o:href="https://secure.eu-server.net/~wwwtoke/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif" src="file:///C:\DOCUME~1\Kenny\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip_i mage003.gif"></v:imagedata></v:shape> |
